The obligatory cringe moment, this is my first post everyone :)
I recently came across this article about Open Source Contribution by Jacob Herrington.
And whilst reading it, I began to think about my contribution to the broader DEV community.
I can openly admit that, had it not been for those who selflessly write tutorials and documentation, I wouldn't be nearly as effective and efficient in my job as I am today.
Yet it's strange to think that there are people who's contributions make a daily impact on most of our professional lives, yet they go so unnoticed.
Now this post is not about recognition, in fact, most people do so because they love what they do. More so, this article is about recognizing that I have a responsibility to contribute.
This post is about acknowledging that responsibility and making a commitment to doing so.
So, if you're like me, extremely self conscious, writing this took so much courage.
I will use this post, as a lighthouse to my journey of contributing back to the broader DEV community. And I know I said this article was not about recognition, but to everyone, thank you for all your contributions.
