Wow. This definitely deserves more reads.

There are self-help posts that are just BS adorned with pretty words, but this was honestly pretty genuine.

These struck me the most:

If you keep chasing acceptance as an indicator of your value then it will always be dependent on all those random bulbs glowing at the same time, all the time.

The need for validation exacerbates insecurities whether you get validation or not.

Unfortunately, these are both things I have struggled with.

I've found that certain social media, like Reddit, tend to make insecurity and the need for validation much, much worse (downvotes/echo chambers/etc). That's part of the reason why I quit Reddit for over a year... And then recently caved and started using it again.

I also struggle with trying to find what I really want to do in my life. I compare myself to other devs too much. My family members remind me how detrimental that can be to my mental health, and that there's no use in comparing yourself to others because each person has their own unique path in life.

Easier said than done, though. It's a real battle to get over those feelings.
