Great advice. On the last point, yes, you won't get much better at programming answering questions, but you can surely extend your knowledge of an topic. The questions I enjoy answering most, (and I do it for the enjoyment of helping my fellow devs, not the rep) are the ones that I nearly know the answer to. Then I can go and research that last missing bit, and come away just a tad more knowledgeable.

Good point. I also enjoy those times I'm able to learn something myself by searching to the answer to someone's question.
