Nevertheless, Cheyenne Coded

I began coding because...

I've always been interested in techy things ever since a little girl in the 80s. I was never actively discouraged into looking at computer science as a career, but it was not obvious that I could have pursued it. I was always pushed into looking into the 'caring' roles like nursing etc. I showed them though...I studied geology! Ha...

I'm currently hacking on...

Building APIs with Koa (and soon Koa2!), learning Angular2 and building a unicorn colouring book because I wanted to play with canvas some more! Totally practical! :D

I'm excited about...

Everything! I've been a geologist, working in the veterinary world, at Medieval times, cleaned dinosaur bones, sorted shark teeth, you name it! I love learning and hope to keep doing that until my last breath!

My advice for other women who code is...

Don't get discouraged. I've been really lucky starting into this field a little older than most, so I've had a lifetime to develop a thick skin. I haven't really dealt with much push back, but that's mostly because I have a low tolerance for it. So I think I tend to ignore it and move on to more supportive people!
