This post isn't about personal branding so I'll keep it really short and to-the-point. Open Source project owners: you want new contributors? Good. But please, for heaven's sake, include a Contribution Guide on your project's README. New, timid contributors like me need an assurance that you have a friendly temperament and that you are enthusiastic about on boarding new people.
The way most projects are, it feels like an impersonal affair: "If you want to contribute, send a pull request". Really?
I personally recommend a couple of projects, which have near-complete documentation and a very friendly team:
2) For C++, Python, Gaming, and pure-C++ libraries: MousePaw Media (https://mousepawmedia.com/projects).
I include these here as excellent examples of how to provide a welcoming feeling for new contributors.
Please feel free to include in the comments your favorite projects that are supportive AND looking for new contributors.
