Regardless of whether AR or Sequel is the better option, teams typically choose the one they feel more comfortable with. AR might be used more than Sequel since it comes by default with Ruby on Rails and many developers are familiar with it. If a team wants to use Sequel, they should carefully weigh the pros and cons to avoid adding unnecessary workload.
