I am working as an Android engineer from my home city Lucknow in India.
Interestingly, this is my first job straight out of college. I've been working for 4 months now and still haven't seen the office and experienced office life.

Don't know if WHF is better than working from the office. Will like to hear your experiences and what differences you people feel between the two 😊

We went into home office just a few months after starting working as a front end developer :). I definitely like working from home more because I save a lot of time since I'm not commuting but I miss my colleagues and the human interaction. Right now we are allowed to go into office a day per week, exactly for this reason.

I moved from Brazil to Canada a bit before the pandemic started and I am currently living in Montreal, working from home.
I still didn’t get the chance to know the country and the city property.
Hope things get better soon!

Yes, let's hope things will get better. How do you like Canada in general? Stay safe.

I am loving living here, the country is amazing and it is also being a big opportunity for my career!

I'm glad to hear. It has always been a dream of mine to someday move to Canada and until now I heard only nice things from the people who took this step.

I always had this dream too.
You should definitely try it, this place is just amazing!

I would like to say the same but unfortunately I had to return to the office after 3 month of quarantine, March - June

How is that working out? Is your team smaller and all working in the same office was possible?

Collapse
enmanuel97 profile image
Jesus Enmanuel De La Cruz

Yeah, my team is very smaller. We are only 4 programmers but with the others departments in total we are 10

I figured. I'm asking because I know in general there must be a minimum distance in between desks (if people work in the office) so if the team is very big, that might be difficult.

Thread Thread

The office is very big we have distance between desks but I would prefer to work from home again the public transportation is very difficult and lately in my country(Dominican Republic) there are a few people that keep distance xD here we don't have quarantine anymore.

Started my new job entirely WFH in San Jose, CA, USA and still haven't met my awesome new coworkers in person. We rely on tools like Clubhouse, Slack, GitHub to stay connected, but we also use FeaturePeek for staging and reviewing UI pull requests. Sending love around the world. Stay safe everyone. ✌️

Wow, that's great. I hear from a lot of people that things are moving slower than usual and it's not a good time to find a job. But I guess if you're good at what you're doing no pandemic will get in the way of getting work :).

I'm still working from home too. But I go to the company once (1 day) a week to discuss tasks/projects with my supervisor. It's a lot more effective than doing it via Skype. My direct colleagues meet with our supervisor/project manager on another day. We are currently a team of 4 people.
But my way to work is only 5-10 minutes by bike anyway...

I heard about the one day per week arrangement from more than one friend working in Germany so I am wondering if this is something specific or companies all over the world do it. I do miss my colleagues so I like going to work even for one day, although I also live super close to the office :).

I'm hanging out and working from home in Bakersfield, California. I was supposed to start as an in-office employee in Sacramento in April, but once the COVID shutdowns happened, the whole company went remote.

Greetings! 👋 I've also been working from home since March, right outside of Denver, Colorado. I recently picked up my standing desk from the work office and it's made a world of a difference!

We also got standing desks just a little while back but I didn't get to the point where I can stand and think at the same time :)).

I'm working as a Software Engineer from my home city Makati here in the Philippines eversince I got hired last August. Our office is relatively near to my area but most of my teammates are still working remotely so I still don't have the option of going to the office. I really miss the office ambience and would really want to talk with and see my officemates in person.

We were sent home mid-late Feb, and I'm still working from home.

I'm told it'll be early next year by the time we're allowed to have any office attendance, and months after that we're back working in the office with any significance.

Office is Liverpool, UK.

Currently, I'm still working at home since March from my hometown Sylhet in Bangladesh. I worked at the office just for 1 & a half months before the lockdown began. And I really miss working at the office!
Hopefully, I'm looking forward to going back to my workplace by next year.
