NetApp, which I rarely have to deal with, came into my life today. There was way more confusion than necessary BECAUSE THEY HAVE TWO EXTREMELY SIMILARLY NAMED TOOLS THAT HAVE VERY DIFFERENT ROLES.
ActiveIQ- the cloud hosted service and command center where you access predictive/prescriptive info about your netapp stuff, even if it's on-premise.
ActiveIQ Unified Manager- DESPITE BEING EXTREMELY SIMILARLY NAMED, this one is installed locally. Your on-premise stuff reports into it. It's a monitoring suite in the traditional sense. A state of now, and right before now. For the most part.
OnCommand Unified Manager- The same thing as ActiveIQ Unified Manager, but for older versions. A name change and UI refresh.
The local joint.
