Discussion on: How I chose my Code Editor

Turbo Pascal with its builtin IDE is how it started for me in the early 1990s, followed by Turbo C.

After that Vim was my goto editor for quite a while, since I mostly worked on *nix system. I eventually switched to Emacs and essentially turned it into my OS. Nowadays I use Spacemacs, i.e. Vim inside Emacs with a very opinionated set of configs.

I do however often use IDEs at work since their more advanced features are very helpful for working with big code bases one is not overly familiar with.
