It seems like everywhere I look there is negative talk on bootcamps. While there is always going to be negative comments on anything it seems that bootcamps are getting more and more shit on then they used to.
Five years ago when I was trying the self taught route everyone suggested bootcamps to me over and over but I couldn’t offered the cost at the time and was reeling from when I had tried college before. Currently I am enrolled in the Lambda School Full Stack Web Development course. While Lambda seems to get a lot of flack (unneeded in my opinion but I digress) it seemed after I joined everywhere I look I see hate against bootcamps and bootcamp grads.
I chose to enroll in a bootcamp because the self taught method wasn’t working for me. I needed structure but knew that I didn’t have the time or money to go back to college for a full 4 year degree so bootcamp seemed like the best option. I’m not aware of another one but maybe that’s what I’m missing?
Looking forward to see what alternatives there are and understanding what is so bad about bootcamps so we can as a community fix this problem as we are going to need this to further out industry.
