Why do you need a mic? There is one built into your phone, and it is good enough for phone calls. Why isn’t it good enough for a podcast which is also just your voice?

While you can make a podcast with a phone microphone, your audience will definitely notice. Like @jess points out, this isn't an issue when you start off but as you grow you will need to upgrade. I always notice and appreciate when a podcaster has their audio setup figured out. If I am going to keep listening this becomes a requirement.


And I do believe that I point out that you can worry about improving the audio quality later down the line. The main point for the post though was to encourage people to just start. Don't wait for the perfect time, equipment, or idea. Just get something out there and let it grow.
