Introduction

Hello! I'm Nonoka.

I attended my very first AWS Summit Japan 2026 (Days 1 & 2), held at Makuhari Messe on Thursday, June 25th, and Friday, June 26th, 2026!

It was incredibly fun, and I absorbed a ton of the latest tech centered around AWS. I'm so excited to share the excitement and what I learned! ✨

💡 What is AWS Summit Japan 2026?
One of Japan's largest events for learning about cloud and AI innovation, held in a hybrid format (Makuhari Messe & online). It's a precious two days where you can absorb everything from cloud basics to the latest generative AI technologies and corporate use cases all at once!
🔗 AWS Summit Official Website

Building and Playing My Own Game in 3 Minutes 🎮

On Day 2, I visited a highly recommended booth suggested by an AWS staff member!

To my surprise, even with zero game development experience, I was able to build my own game in just 3 minutes! I actually got to play it, get a score, and clear it! 🤩

Behind the scenes, there are about 3 to 5 steps, like generating backgrounds, designs, and characters. You proceed through each step while recording your session with an NFC tag.
All I had to do was just click my favorite options!
The result was an awesome game that combined cuteness, coolness, and a bit of a hardcore, Gundam-style robot vibe! 🤖✨

When I asked the AWS staff, "How can it be built this fast?", they told me they maintain this overwhelming speed by using Claude 3 Haiku on
Amazon Bedrock
!

Along with the surprise of "Is it really this easy to make a game?!", I was deeply impressed by
Claude 3 Haiku
and AWS's technological prowess behind that speed!

 NVIDIA's Open Source Spirit 🟢

One of the hottest moments of this event was NVIDIA's session on their "Open Source Spirit"!

Based on the notes I took during the session, here are the points that blew my mind 👇

Why can they make it open?
While other companies (like Microsoft and Apple) are heavily investing in closed environments and proprietary in-house development, NVIDIA is making solid profits on the hardware (GPU) side. Because of this, they can generously open-source their AI models. I could feel their overwhelming confidence: "Open models are the hottest thing right now!" 🔥

Providing the Whole Package!
They aren't just providing models like
Nemotron
; they are literally providing "everything," including training data, libraries, recipes, and references.

Spawning an Agent in a Single Line
Using open harnesses like the
NVIDIA Agent Toolkit
, we are in an era where you can create an agent smarter than a human with just a single line of code (though prompts are super important!).

The Ultimate Tag Team with AWS
These open models can be run on
Amazon Bedrock
by setting the endpoint to AWS! I saw a demo, and because it fully utilizes the GPU, it is ridiculously fast (high throughput) and also leads to cost reductions.

Governance and Practical Application
They also introduced a governance framework that encloses agents in a safe-to-break environment (shell/sandbox) to mitigate the risk of them breaking the system. As a use case, it was incredibly insightful to learn how Murata Manufacturing implemented dual monitoring (log monitoring & semantic monitoring) combining AWS and NVIDIA for a service used by 30,000 employees!

💡 NVIDIA's VSS
For those interested in NVIDIA's open-source technology, I'm sharing the site for Video Search and Summarization (VSS)!
The site is in English, but I'll summarize it later! Being able to use this tech as open source is absolutely amazing—as expected of NVIDIA!!
🔗 Video Search and Summarization (VSS)

 Meeting QuizKnock 🧠

I actually got to see the members of QuizKnock (who I usually only watch through a screen) right there at the venue! 🎉
It turns out they were participating as judges for a hackathon event called "AWS GameDay."
🔗 QuizKnock appears at "AWS Summit Japan" again this year! Takushi Izawa, Hisanori Tsurusaki, and others will appear in the Generative AI Hackathon Finals and Quiz Tournament

This was my first time attending, but I think I'll have a perfect grasp on how to navigate the event next year, so I definitely want to participate in the hackathon! By the way, the sheer knowledge of the QuizKnock members is seriously off the charts lol.

The Importance of English & My Dream of AWS re:Invent 🇺🇸

What hit me the hardest at the venue this time was the importance of English.

Half of the keynote speeches were in English, and while eating the free bento or walking around the booths, I had plenty of opportunities to talk and discuss things in English with international attendees!

Precisely because we live in an era where AI can easily translate for us, I rediscovered the value of understanding with my own head, speaking English with my own voice, and directly discussing the latest tech. Thanks to AI, I'm grateful for a world where we can connect with people all over the globe, breaking down language barriers more than ever 🌍✨

Also, I found a new goal: I absolutely want to go to "AWS re:Invent," AWS's biggest conference held in the US!
While this event in Japan was dominated by generative AI topics, I really wanted to hear deeper discussions on "security" and "data utilization," so I want to go there in person and ask foreign engineers my questions directly in English!

For that to happen, I'll definitely be earning that money! lol

🔗 AWS re:Invent

 My Personal #1 SWAG from Days 1 & 2 🎁

My personal #1 SWAG (loot) was the Splunk Black Thunder (chocolate bar)! ⚡

Splunk has a rock-solid foundation and market share that rivals Datadog.

When I visited the Splunk booth, they gave me materials with a QR code for a free trial, so I'm going to test it out in my own environment right away!

I'm also getting curious about Splunk's US event (.conf)! 👀

🔗 .conf26 by Splunk

 Conclusion

I am truly grateful to AWS for providing this opportunity to thoroughly absorb the cutting-edge tech in cloud and AI over these two days.

I could feel the technical prowess of AWS and the high heat of its community (fans) with my whole body!

I'm absolutely participating next year and will share my thoughts again! I highly recommend everyone to join the AWS Summit too!! ✨

 Introduction

I recently took on the challenge of modernizing the website for my parents' cram school in rural Japan.

As an IT professional specializing in cloud infrastructure, I wanted to see how far I could go by leveraging AI as my primary development partner.

Here is the story of how Claude, Gemini, and Codex helped me transform an outdated site into a modern web presence.

 The AI Dream Team

I used three different AI models, each for a specific role:

Gemini: My "Strategy Consultant." I used it to brainstorm the revamp plan and organize ideas for site structure.

Claude: My "Lead Developer." It was incredibly fast and accurate with code generation.

Codex: My "UI/UX Designer." While Claude was fast, Codex generated a design that perfectly appealed to our target audience—young mothers.

 The Development Process

Phase 1: The One-Pager
Claude initially built a high-quality single-page site in seconds. It was impressive, but I needed more.

Phase 2: Designing for the Audience
Codex stepped in to refine the aesthetics. It created a design that felt much more approachable and modern for young parents.

Phase 3: The Biggest Challenge (The "Multi-Page" Wall)
The hardest part was splitting the site into seven distinct HTML pages. I spent 7 hours trying to get Codex to handle the linking and structure—I even took a nap while it processed—but it just couldn't cross the finish line.

The Breakthrough
I switched back to a combination of Claude and Gemini. Claude’s coding efficiency is unmatched; it handled the multi-page logic without breaking a sweat.

Key Takeaway: For pure coding speed and logic, Claude is currently king. It saves developers an incredible amount of time.

Feedback from my Parents (and Next Steps)

After showing the result to my parents, I received some "tough but fair" feedback, which I’m now addressing:

"Changing the old site is scary."

Solution: They were worried about the transition. I'm considering a blue-green deployment or hosting both versions. Since they are worried about server costs, I’m looking into AWS (EC2/S3) or Google Cloud to optimize hosting for a lightweight static site.

"It looks a bit too much like AI-generated art."

Solution: I am manually refining the fonts and CSS in VS Code to give it a more "human" and professional touch.

"We won't be able to edit it ourselves!"

Solution: I'm setting up a simplified workflow (perhaps a headless CMS or a specific Git-based setup) so they can update information without needing to touch the raw code.

 Conclusion

Building this was a reminder that AI is a powerful tool, but the "human in the loop" is essential for final adjustments and navigating complex site architectures.

Have you used AI to build projects for your family? I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments!
