kaunsacardpk.com

Disclosure first: I built Kaunsa Card?, a free Pakistani website that ranks bank card discounts by estimated rupees saved. I am Abdullah Naeem, a Pakistani developer. This post starts with the pain, not the product, because the pain is why the product exists.
Pain 1: you paid full price and did not even know. Saturday dinner in Lahore, family bill Rs 9,500, you pay with the first card in your wallet. Later someone says that card, or another card you already hold, had a discount at that place. That is the most common pain in Pakistani bank card discounts: not a bad card, a discount you never checked. Kaunsa Card? exists for the moment before the bill, not after it. Bill se pehle, check karo.

Pain 2: even when you do check, the discount comes out smaller than expected. Take an illustrative pair, not a current bank offer. Card A: 50% off, capped at Rs 1,000. Card B: 30% off, capped at Rs 3,000. On that Rs 9,500 bill, Card A saves Rs 1,000 and Card B saves Rs 2,850. The 50% card loses by Rs 1,850. On a small Rs 2,000 bill the pair flips: Card A saves Rs 1,000, Card B saves Rs 600. The rule is simple, and it is the whole ranking:
Sort by percentage and you will pick the wrong card on large bills. Sort by that rupee figure, after the cap, and the answer changes with the bill, as it should.

Pain 3: the cap is missing, so you cannot even do that maths. About 35% of active offers in the Card Discount Index do not state a rupee cap for any eligible card. The catalogue I checked on 2 November counts 13,012 active offers at 2,111 places from 25 banks and programmes in 13 cities, median listed rate 25%, dining alone 7,169 offers. For a missing cap, the code does not guess:
Null, not zero and not infinity. Zero would punish a card for a missing term. Showing bill * rate would promise a saving that may not exist. Null is uglier, but it tells the truth: the saving is unknown, check the bank's terms before you pay.

That choice matters in Pakistan. Among banks with at least 20 offers, Soneri Bank has the highest median listed rate, 40%, but states a cap on 0% of its offers in that table, so there is no rupee estimate to rank by. PayPak is the opposite: it states a cap on 100% of its offers, median stated cap Rs 1,000. Most offers also does not mean most saving. Askari Bank lists the most, 1,265 at 510 places, but that is coverage, not rupees on your bill. Rank cards, not banks, and rank them on a specific bill, for that exact card tier, on that day, at that branch, above any minimum spend.

So the check before you pay is three steps, and it takes less time than arguing at the counter. First, list the cards you already hold that are listed at that place. Second, for each, take the smaller of bill * rate and that exact card's cap, and drop any card that does not apply that day or branch. Third, if no cap is stated, treat the saving as unknown, not unlimited. That is what Kaunsa Card? does for you: compare cards on a bill, browse by city, bank or place, check nearby, estimate yearly savings with Card Advisor, split a discounted bill with Squad Split, ask Ask AI, check utility offers. Main features need no account.

One open question for developers reading this: a single-bill ranking cannot fully capture a monthly cap. I rank the single bill and warn about the monthly limit, instead of asking you to forecast how many times you will use the offer that month. If you have built a ranking or price comparison where missing data is common, how do you show an unknown without hiding it or inventing it?
Savings depend on cap, day, branch and card, and a listing is not a confirmed redemption. The site is not affiliated with any bank, and this is not advice to get a card or take credit. It is a comparison for discounts you already hold. The Card Discount Index has the breakdown by bank, city and category, and the home page is where you can test a bill against the rule above.
