Join us for the final Cloud Skills Show livestream of 2020 as we talk to a panel of experts about Azure Migrate and Hybrid environments.

In this episode, we looked at running a Hybrid Cloud environment within your IT department. A lot of workloads are suitable for migrating to the Cloud but some aren’t. We talked about the migration process, tools to help assist you and also look at extending Azure to on-premises environments.

Amy Boyd is a Senior Cloud Advocate at Microsoft, working on the Scalable Content team. Amy is responsible for building AI content for Microsoft Events around the world.
Clifford Agius is an Airline Pilot for a Major UK Airline flying Boeing 787s around the world. When not on the Flight Deck you can find him huddled over a laptop working on a DotNet, Xamarin or IOT project. Microsoft MVP and International Speaker.
Adam Jackson is a Program Manager at Microsoft Developer Relations, responsible for working with communities in the UK and Europe, as well as producing the Cloud Skills show, amongst other projects.
Avye & Helene from Girls into Coding - a fantastic non-profit organisation helping Girls aged 10-14 years learn more about the Internet of Things and be inspired to learn how to code.

This week, we looked at Machine Learning in more detail, specifically the integration of AzureML and PyTorchLightning, as well as learning more about Natural Language Processing.

Aaron (Ari) Bornstein - an AI researcher with a passion for history, engaging with new technologies and computational medicine. As an Open Source Engineer at Microsoft’s Cloud Developer Advocacy team, he collaborates with the Israeli Hi-Tech Community, to solve real world problems with game changing technologies that are then documented, open sourced, and shared with the rest of the world.
Tal Baumel - a PhD graduate from the Computer Science department at Ben Gurion University. Tal worked on the Natural Language Processing Project under the supervision of Professor Michael Elhadad - focusing on automatic summarization. Tal is now working as a data scientist for Microsoft on Conversation Intelligence in Dynamics 365 Sales Insights.

The Cloud Skills Show returned this Thursday with an episode on Microsoft's Power Platform community. Each week we bring guests together from the technical community in the UK and around the world to talk about learning, professional growth and community.

Together with my co-host Claire Smyth, we met Rory Neary, Samit Saini and Jese Navaranjan - 3 passionate people from the Power Platform community.

Claire Smyth is the Community Program Manager for Microsoft UK and Ireland, and runs the Microsoft MVP and RD programmes.
Rory Neary is a Power Platform Specialist, Community Organiser and Microsoft MVP for Business Applications. He runs the PowerApps4Kids community in London and is currently creating a Power Platform training series.
Samit Saini is an IT Specialist at London's Heathrow Airport and a Microsoft MVP. He previously worked as a Security Guard at Heathrow, and PowerApps inspired his career change to IT.
Jese Navaranjan is a Senior Consultant at Microsoft Partner Altius, and is also an MCSE, as well as a passionate community contributor. She previously worked at Heathrow (alongside Samit!) on PowerBI, and is now primarily focused on PowerApps.

We're only just starting to understand the true potential of technology at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, MLOps (Machine Learning & DevOps), Cloud Computing and Edge Computing - but the possibilities are endless.

For the past few years, our AI Engineers, Data Scientists and Cloud Advocates at Microsoft have been working with the University of Oxford to further the development of these technologies and further the practical application of these in the world.

The collaboration has resulted in the University of Oxford offering specific courses on AI and Cloud/Edge computing - and on the development of the AI Edge Engineer Learning Path on Microsoft Learn.

On the 1st October we brought together the team at Microsoft and the academics at University of Oxford that worked to build this learning path - watch the show to find out more about this free Learning Path, as well as some of the amazing applications of these technologies.

On this show we met:

Amy Boyd - host of this episode and Cloud Advocate for AI + Machine Learning at Microsoft. Amy has been working with the University of Oxford for a number of years and helped build the AI Edge Engineer Learning Path, as well as being a guest lecturer on the course at Oxford. She is also responsible for the Development of the Developer's Guide to AI series of content, seen at Microsoft events around the world and also featured on Microsoft Learn.
Ajit Jaokar - Course Director: Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge implementations at the University of Oxford. Ajit built the course at Oxford and is a Data Scientist at his company, feynlabs. He has also conducted AI courses in the London School of Economics (LSE), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and as part of the The Future Society at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Ayşe Mutlu - Lead AI Tutor for Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge implementations at the University of Oxford. Ayşe is an experience Data Scientist with a background in Engineering, Mixed Reality, IoT and Machine Learning. She was particularly instrumental in helping develop AI Edge content for Microsoft Azure.
Marina Fernandez - Analyst Developer at Anglo American and alumni of the Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge implementations course. Marina is now a guest speaker and student mentor at the University of Oxford. She has over 15 years experience of Software Development, Business Analysis and Project Management.
Robert Wolf - Senior Web and Application Developer at Fundamentals Ltd. Robert is also an alumni of the Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge implementations course and has over 26 years experience in IT & Software Engineering. He is now responsible for designing, build and maintaining Python based machine learning workflow and infrastructures and data engineering/management systems.

The Cloud Skills Show is back for a brand new series! Each week we bring guests together from the technical community in the UK and around the world to talk about learning, professional growth and community.

In Series 1 we looked at AI, security, programming languages, web & frontend and resources for students. In Series 2, we'll be covering even more technical topics, but we wanted to start the series by looking at Hacktoberfest, and since the premiere is 1st October - what better a time to talk about it!

We started this week's show with a brief recap of Microsoft Ignite, and then the rest of the show was dedicated to Hacktoberfest. If you're new to Hacktoberfest, it's a month-long global event organised by the folks at DigitalOcean with Intel and Dev.To. Around the world, thousands of technical communities take part, including communities in and around Microsoft.

Anyone can take part in Hacktoberfest, and you don't need to be an experienced developer to get started. We'll show you how, on the show!

We are proud that our MVP Community and our Cloud Advocate team are keen contributors to Hacktoberfest, and we wanted to share some of their stories, and meet some of the people they collaborate with.

On this week's show we met:

Floor Drees (she/her) - Floor will be the main guest host this week and is an Advocacy Program Manager at Microsoft, based in Amsterdam.
Pete Gallagher (he/him) - Pete is a previous guest on Cloud Skills Show, having appeared on our languages & frameworks episode in August. Pete is a Software Consultant, Microsoft MVP and Microsoft Certified Trainer. He also organises Nottingham IoT and dot net notts meetups, as well as writing for Pluralsight.
