GhostNote AI - Some Stories Refuse To Disappear

Some stories refuse to disappear.

I built GhostNote AI for Hacktoberfest Week 4 - Ghost in the Machine.

It is a spooky, memory-keeping web experience inspired by Dia de los Muertos.
You leave a thought in the dark, and it comes back as a haunting story that you will never forget.

 How it works

You type a memory or thought

You click the ghost

The AI turns it into a beautiful, haunting story

 Why I chose Open AI?

I used an open-weight model - DeepSeek - instead of a closed, paid API.

It is free to use

Your personal memories stay private

The model can be swapped anytime

Anyone can run it locally

That is the real power of open source AI. You own it.

 Tech I used

HTML, CSS, JavaScript

DeepSeek (open-weight model)

 Try it yourself

GitHub Repo: https://github.com/aditisingh495/GhostNote-AI
Just open index.html in your browser.

Made with love for Hacktoberfest 2026.

LazyMate AI: Work Less, Relax More with Open-Source AI

🦥 LazyMate AI — Work Less. Relax More.

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady

 What I Built

Meet LazyMate AI — Work Less. Relax More.

LazyMate AI is a simple productivity dashboard designed to make everyday tasks easier. The idea is simple: why make life more complicated when small tools can help you organize your day, plan your work, and take proper breaks?

With LazyMate AI, users can:

✅ Organize tasks: Add, complete, delete, and filter daily tasks.

📝 Summarize text: Get a shorter version of text using a simple JavaScript-based sentence extraction method.

🌿 Plan an easy day: Generate a basic daily plan based on available time and energy level.

⏱️ Take focus breaks: Use a 10-minute timer to manage work and rest.

💾 Save tasks locally: Keep task information in the browser using Local Storage.

LazyMate AI is designed for students, busy people, and anyone who wants to spend less effort managing their day and more time enjoying it.

My goal is to make productivity feel less stressful and more relaxing. Because being productive doesn't mean being busy every minute!

 Demo

Live Demo: file:///C:/Users/ADITI%20SINGH/OneDrive/Desktop/LzyMateAI/index.html

You can deploy the project using GitHub Pages and share the link here.

 Code

GitHub Repository: https://github.com/aditisingh495/LazyMateAI.git

The project is built with beginner-friendly web technologies:

HTML5

CSS3

JavaScript

No complex setup or package installation is required. Just open the project in a browser!

 How I Built It

I built LazyMate AI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

HTML provides the structure of the dashboard.

CSS creates a calming, responsive interface.

JavaScript powers the task manager, text summarizer, daily planner, and focus timer.

Browser Local Storage saves tasks between visits.

The current version is a working front-end prototype. Its summarizer and daily planner use rule-based JavaScript logic rather than a language model.

My next step is to integrate an open-weight language model such as Qwen2.5 through Ollama, allowing LazyMate AI to generate more personalized summaries and daily plans using local inference.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

I believe open innovation makes technology more accessible to students and independent developers like me.

Open-weight models and open-source tools can help developers experiment, customize AI behavior, and learn how AI applications work without depending entirely on paid, closed APIs.

For LazyMate AI, integrating a locally running open-weight model would be an exciting next step. It could make personalized planning and summarization possible while giving users more control over where their data is processed.

This project is also part of my learning journey as a first-year CSE student. I want to keep learning by building useful projects, experimenting with open-source technology, and improving my ideas one step at a time.

 The Lazy Payoff

LazyMate AI brings everyday productivity tools together in one place.

Instead of switching between different tools to manage tasks, plan a day, shorten text, and time a break, users can access these features from a single dashboard.

The current version is a prototype, so I haven't measured actual time savings yet. My goal is to reduce small, repetitive planning tasks and make daily routines easier to manage.

 Prize Categories

Add the partner prize categories you are actually entering, based on the official challenge rules. Remove this section if you are not entering a specific category.

 Final Thoughts

LazyMate AI is my small step toward building technology that helps people do less unnecessary work and make more room for rest.

I'm still learning, still building, and excited to keep improving this project with open-source tools.

Less stress. More rest. Smarter routines. 🦥🌿
