DevQuest V3 — Architecture Overview

I recently completed a major backend upgrade for DevQuest, a Discord bot designed for daily developer challenges and certification testing.

In V3, I moved away from simple lifetime point tracking to a multi-tiered, season-based ranking engine with historical rollover capabilities.

 Key Architectural Highlights

Monthly Seasons Isolation: Each month operates on an independent lifecycle, using deterministic tie-breaking logic without affecting lifetime metrics.

Historical Data & Hall of Fame: Completed season snapshots are archived in dedicated schema, allowing users to query past achievements without bloating active query tables.

Yearly Aggregation Layer: Added a decoupled
Programmer of the Year
metric that aggregates monthly performance and daily streak multipliers.

PostgreSQL Testing & Integrity: Verified October-to-November seasonal transitions and schema migrations using transactional rollbacks in isolated test environments.

Telemetry Profiles: Expanded user profiles into full dashboards showing accuracy rates, streak retention, and historical rank percentiles.
