How We Eliminated Support Tickets with an AI Bot Trained on Our Markdown Docs (And $0/mo Cost)

When building our core product, AheadOdds, we hit a classic dilemma every small team faces: user support.

We needed a way to help visitors and users navigate our product 24/7. However, hiring a full-time support agent was way out of budget, and existing AI chatbots on the market were charging steep $30–$99/month subscriptions — even for months with barely any traffic.

So, to solve this problem we decided to create our own service AI Doc Sherpa.

We named it after the Himalayan sherpas because, just like them, it carries the heavy load for you — taking the burden of answering repetitive support tickets off your shoulders.

🛠️ How It Works

The workflow is designed to be as frictionless as possible (under 2 minutes setup):

Upload your docs: Register at aidocsherpa.com and inside your profile upload a single .md (Markdown) file containing your documentation.
Embed the snippet: Copy a small HTML snippet and drop it into your website's code.
Done! A floating support widget appears in the bottom-right corner of your site.

Visitors can now ask questions in natural language, and the assistant provides precise answers derived strictly from your Markdown file. No AI hallucinations or invented product details — if the information isn't in your docs, the bot clearly states it doesn't know.

Why We Opted Out of a Monthly Subscription

Most AI customer support tools use recurring monthly plans. We found this unfair for early-stage SaaS, micro-tools, and open-source projects where question volume fluctuates.

Here is how we structured the pricing model instead ($0 / month):

You don't pay a fixed fee just for having the widget active on your site. If it's a quiet month with zero questions, your bill is $0.
Prepaid Message Packs: You purchase a pack of 2,000 answered questions for $20. These credits never expire; they set your own pace based on your traffic.
Unanswered Questions are FREE: If a visitor asks something that isn't covered in your .md file, it costs 0 credits. Instead, it gets logged in your dashboard under "Unanswered Questions" as a free insight into documentation gaps.
