Usually data that each organisation wants to make available to the public or other organisations in a programmatic way is made available through API’s. This way other applications do not need to reinvent the wheel i.e rebuild what is already existing. </p> <p>API’s are important because it enables different solutions to be built on existing solutions or better still, helps organisations expand their existing solutions. Big cooperations such as Google, Facebook have made several of their API’s available.
