Free mock interview with no sign-up: practise out loud and get feedback in seconds

Akeed Rifza — Wed, 04 Nov 2026 07:00:31 +0000

Quick answer: if you want to practise a job interview out loud right now, for free, without making an account, try the free mock interview at Nail My Interview. Pick your job, answer 3 real interview questions out loud, and get feedback on each answer a couple of seconds later. (I'm the maker, so I'm biased, but it's free and there's nothing to sign up for, so you can judge it yourself in two minutes.)

Why practise out loud at all?

Most people prepare for interviews by reading questions and thinking about their answers. The problem: an answer that sounds fine in your head often falls apart when you say it. You ramble, lose the example halfway through, or end with "...so yeah."

Saying it out loud is the fastest way to find those gaps. Then you can fix them before the real interview instead of during it.

How the free mock interview works

Pick your job. There are 10 to choose from right now: manager, internship, sales, customer service, retail, server, supervisor, data analyst, business analyst and warehouse.
Answer out loud. You get 3 questions that interviewers for that job really ask. Talk for up to a minute and a half, the way you would in the room. If you can't talk right now, you can type instead.
Read your feedback. Each answer gets a verdict (Strong, Good start or Needs work), what worked, the one thing to fix, and a better way to say it.

Then press "Try this one again", fix that one thing, and hear the difference.

A few details people usually ask about:

No account, no card. You start on the page.
Your recording isn't kept. It's turned into text to give you feedback, and that's it.
It runs in your browser, with nothing to download. Allow the microphone when the browser asks.
There's a daily limit of 9 answers per person, so it stays free for everyone.

When you want more than 3 questions

The quick version is for warming up. For a real interview coming up, the full mock interview is better: you enter the company and the role and paste your CV, and it builds the questions from those. Every answer is scored, and you get a debrief at the end. It needs a free account, and your first one is free.

Free ways to practise without any tool

You don't need software to practise well. These work too:

Record yourself on your phone. Use the voice memo app, answer a question, and play it back. You'll hear the "ums" and the rambling straight away.
Practise with a friend. Give them a list of questions and ask them to interrupt you if an answer goes past a minute.
Use real question lists for your job. There are free lists of common questions with example answers for each role here.

4 tips that make any mock interview more useful

Say it, don't think it. Thinking through an answer isn't the same as saying it.
Keep answers to about a minute. Long enough for one real example, short enough that the interviewer stays with you.
Use a real example. For "tell me about a time" questions: what was happening, what you did, and how it ended.
Answer the same question twice. The second try, after one fix, is where you actually improve.

Good luck with your interview. If you try the mock interview, I'd love to hear in the comments whether the feedback was useful.

Parakeet AI alternatives in 2026: cheaper ways to get live interview help

Akeed Rifza — Wed, 04 Nov 2026 06:37:39 +0000

Quick answer: if ParakeetAI is too expensive for you, the best alternative for most people is Nail My Interview: live answers from your resume for $14.99 a month, a free plan you can test on a real call, and nothing to install. (I'm the maker, so don't take my word for the prices. Everything below comes from each company's own site, checked 4 November 2026.)

ParakeetAI is one of the biggest AI interview assistants. Its site says it has over 1.5 million users. It's a solid product, but it's priced for heavy users, and a lot of people only need help with a few interviews.

What ParakeetAI costs

From Parakeet's pricing page on 4 November 2026:

Option	Listed price	With the 50%-off code on their site
Unlimited, monthly	$149.90/month	$74.95/month
Unlimited, yearly	$599.90/year	$299.95/year
3 credits	$59	$29.50
8 credits	$118	$59
15 credits	$177	$88.50

One credit covers about an hour of calls (half a credit is a 30-minute session). New users get a free intro session, and the first mock interview is free.

Two things worth knowing:

The 50%-off code is shown right on their pricing page. So the discounted price is the one most people actually pay.
Parakeet says it will block employers who ask. Their site says they honor blocklist requests from any employer that sends its domain or hiring process. If your target company has asked, it may not work in that company's interviews.

1. Nail My Interview: the best pick for most people

Nail My Interview listens to your Google Meet, Zoom or Teams call in a browser tab and shows a short answer to each question as it's asked, written from your resume and the job description.

Why it's the best Parakeet alternative:

$14.99/month for 6 hours of live answers. On Parakeet credits, 6 hours costs $59 even with their code.
The free plan refills every day. You get 3 minutes of live answers daily plus a full practice interview, no card needed. That's enough to check it works on your setup before paying.
Nothing to install. It runs in a Chrome or Edge tab on Windows, Mac or Linux.
Practice interviews with a scored debrief, plus company research and coaching on pace and filler words.
Meeting notes included for calls that aren't interviews.

Where Parakeet is better: it has a desktop app, a truly unlimited plan, and extras like a resume maker and AI headshots. If you're doing several long interviews every week, its unlimited plan may suit you better.

2. Verve AI: unlimited, if you'll pay for a year

Verve AI Pro gives unlimited sessions of up to 90 minutes. It's $84.99/month, or $34.99/month billed yearly. The free plan has 3 sessions a month, 15 minutes each, so you can try live help a few times before paying.

3. Preptail: pay per hour, no subscription

Hour packs start at $9 for 1 hour and never expire. That's the closest thing to Parakeet's credits, at a lower price per hour. Pro is $29/month for 6 hours. It's mainly a Windows app; their site says the web version is a preview.

4. LockedIn AI: if you want a mobile app

Credits cost $69.99/month for 400 minutes, and Unlimited is $139.99/month (both with the 50%-off code on their site). There are iPhone and Android apps, plus a VS Code extension for coding rounds.

What 6 hours costs on each

Tool	Cost for about 6 hours
Nail My Interview	$14.99 (Pro, monthly)
Preptail	$29 (Pro)
Verve AI	$44.99 (Standard covers 5 hours)
ParakeetAI	$59 with code (6 credits), $118 without
LockedIn AI	$69.99 with code (400 min)

The bottom line

Parakeet is worth it if you want a desktop app and unlimited use. If you have a handful of interviews and want to pay a normal monthly price, start with Nail My Interview's free plan, try it on your next call, and upgrade only if it helps.

Final Round AI alternatives in 2026: the cheapest ways to get live interview help

Akeed Rifza — Wed, 04 Nov 2026 05:53:22 +0000

Quick answer: for most people, the best Final Round AI alternative is Nail My Interview. It's $14.99 a month instead of $250 up front, it has a free plan you can test on a real call, and there's nothing to install. (I'm the maker, so check the prices below for yourself. They're all from each company's own site, checked 4 November 2026.)

Final Round AI is one of the best-known AI interview assistants. But its pricing changed, and most people looking for an alternative right now are reacting to the price.

What Final Round AI costs now

On 4 November 2026, Final Round AI's subscription page showed:

Plan	Price	How you're billed
Free	$0	Prep tools only. No live interview help.
Prep	$125/month	Billed every 2 months ($250 at a time)
Offer	$83.33/month	Billed every 6 months (about $500)
Career	$62.50/month	Billed yearly ($750)

There's no monthly plan. The cheapest way to get live help is $250 up front.

1. Nail My Interview: the best pick for most people

Nail My Interview listens to your Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call and shows you an answer to each question as it's asked. The answers are written from your resume and the job you're applying for, in words you can actually say out loud.

Why it's the best alternative:

$14.99/month, billed monthly. That's 6 hours of live answers, enough for a busy month of interviews. Cancel anytime with one click.
Free plan with real live help. You get 3 minutes of live answers every day, refilled every 24 hours, plus a full practice interview. No card needed. You can test it on a real call before you pay anything, which you can't do with Final Round AI.
Nothing to install. It runs in Chrome or Edge on any computer.
Practice interviews with a scored debrief, plus company research and coaching on pace, pauses and filler words.
Phone mode. You can run it on your phone next to the laptop.
Meeting notes included for your other calls.

Need more? Max is $45/month for 50 hours. That's still less than a quarter of Final Round AI's 2-month minimum.

2. Verve AI: if you want unlimited and can pay for a year

Pro has unlimited sessions of up to 90 minutes. It's $84.99/month, or $34.99/month if you pay for a full year up front. The free plan gives 3 sessions a month, 15 minutes each. It's a good fit if you're interviewing daily and happy to commit for a year.

3. ParakeetAI: if you want a desktop app

Unlimited is listed at $149.90/month ($74.95 with the code on their site). Credits cost $59 for 3 hours ($29.50 with the code). It has a desktop app for Windows and Mac.

4. Preptail: if you hate subscriptions

You can buy hour packs from $9 for 1 hour, and the minutes never expire. Pro is $29/month for 6 hours, the same hours as Nail My Interview Pro at about twice the price. It's mainly a Windows app; their site says the web version is a preview.

5. LockedIn AI: if you need a coding-interview extension

Credits cost $69.99/month for 400 minutes, and Unlimited is $139.99/month (both with the 50%-off code shown on their site). It has desktop and mobile apps and a VS Code extension.

What 6 one-hour interviews cost

Tool	What you'd pay this month
Nail My Interview	$14.99
Preptail	$29
Verve AI	$44.99 (Standard, covers 5 of the 6)
ParakeetAI	$59 with code
LockedIn AI	$69.99 with code
Final Round AI	$250 (2-month minimum)

The bottom line

If you're leaving Final Round AI because of the price, Nail My Interview gives you live answers during the call and scored practice interviews for $14.99 a month. Start with the free plan, try it on your next call, and only pay if it helps.

AI interview assistants in 2026: what they actually cost (prices checked 4 Nov)

Akeed Rifza — Wed, 04 Nov 2026 05:36:55 +0000

Disclosure: I build Nail My Interview, one of the tools below. I've tried to keep this fair: every price comes from each company's own pricing page, checked on 4 November 2026 (Verve AI and Preptail on 3 November). Prices change often, so check before you buy.

If you search for "best AI interview assistant", almost every list you find is written by one of the companies, and it ranks itself first. I'm also a maker, so I won't pretend this is neutral. What I can do is put the actual prices side by side, because they are surprisingly hard to compare. Some tools charge by the hour, some by the session, some are "unlimited", and many show a permanent "50% off" code.

What these tools do

An AI interview assistant listens to a live video call (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams), picks up the interviewer's question, and shows you a suggested answer based on your resume and the job description. Most also offer mock interviews, so you can practise beforehand.

The prices, side by side

Tool	Free option	Cheapest paid plan with live help	Live time	Runs on
Nail My Interview	3 min of live answers every day, 1 practice interview, no card	$14.99/month	6 hours/month (Max: $45 for 50 hours)	Browser (Chrome, Edge)
Cluely	Limited AI responses	$19.99/month	Unlimited AI responses	Desktop app
Preptail	One 10-minute session, no card	$29/month, or $9 for a 1-hour pack	6 hours/month (Max: $59 for 20 hours)	Windows app (web version is a preview)
Verve AI	3 sessions/month, 15 min each, plus 5 mocks	$44.99/month, or $16.99/month paid yearly	5 sessions/month, up to 60 min each	Browser, Mac/Windows app, mobile
Final Round AI	Prep tools only, no live help	$62.50/month billed yearly ($750/year); $125/month billed every 2 months	Unlimited	Browser and desktop app
LockedIn AI	Free to start	$69.99/month with the site's 50%-off code ($139.98 without)	400 minutes/month (Unlimited: $139.99)	Browser, desktop and mobile apps
ParakeetAI	Free intro session and first mock	Credits: 3 hours for $59 ($29.50 with their code). Unlimited: $149.90/month ($74.95 with the code)	1 credit = 1 hour	Desktop app, desktop Chrome, mobile browser

A few notes on reading this:

"With code" prices. LockedIn AI and ParakeetAI both show a 50%-off code on their own pricing pages, so I listed both prices. Final Round AI says "sign in to reveal today's discount", so the real price may be lower than the one shown.
Billing period matters. Final Round AI no longer has a plain monthly plan. The cheapest option is billed every 2 months, so you pay $250 up front. Verve AI's $16.99 is only if you pay for a full year.
Cluely is not an interview tool. It's a general meeting assistant. It's cheap for unlimited use, but it doesn't take your resume and the job description into account the way interview-specific tools do.

What 6 hours a month costs

Six hours is roughly what a busy month of interviewing looks like (6 to 10 interviews of 30 to 60 minutes):

Nail My Interview Pro: $14.99
Preptail Pro: $29
ParakeetAI credits: $59 with their code (6 credits), or $118 without
LockedIn AI Credits: $69.99 with their code (400 min ≈ 6.7 h)
Verve AI Standard: $44.99 gets you 5 hours (5 × 60 min), or $16.99/month if you commit to a year
Final Round AI: $62.50/month at minimum, billed yearly

If you need unlimited use because you're interviewing every day, the unlimited plans (Final Round AI, LockedIn AI Unlimited, ParakeetAI Unlimited, Verve AI Pro) are the ones to compare.

Where each one is strongest

Final Round AI: a big question bank, a desktop app and unlimited sessions. Expensive, and there's no free trial of live help.
LockedIn AI: the most ways to run it (desktop, mobile, and a VS Code extension for coding rounds). Credits never expire.
ParakeetAI: pay-as-you-go credits for occasional users, plus extras like a resume maker and headshots.
Verve AI: generous mock interviews and company question banks. Good value if you're happy to pay for a year.
Preptail: one-off hour packs that never expire, so you don't need a subscription for one or two interviews. Windows only for now.
Cluely: if most of your calls are sales or client meetings, not interviews.
Nail My Interview (mine): the lowest monthly price for 6 hours, nothing to install, and the free plan refills every day, so you can test it on a real call first. The downside: no desktop app, and no unlimited plan.

How to choose

Count your interviews. Two interviews? A pack or a free plan is enough. Twenty? Look at unlimited plans.
Test it on a real call before paying. Speed and accuracy vary a lot between tools. A free tier that works on a real call is worth more than a long feature list.
Check what you're actually billed. "$16.99/month" and "$62.50/month" can both mean a yearly charge up front.
Practise first. Every tool on this list has mock interviews in some form. An hour of practice before the real call helps more than anything you read off a screen.
Check the rules. Some employers and online assessments don't allow AI help during the interview. Respect that.

If I've got a price wrong, tell me in the comments and I'll fix it.
