      <description>&lt;p&gt;If you write bash/shell scripts you will often need to combine two or three commands in one line, especially if you use &lt;code&gt;screen bash -c &amp;lt;cmd1 &amp;amp;&amp;amp; cmd2 ; cmd3&amp;gt;&lt;/code&gt; command; but do you know what's the difference between &lt;code&gt;&amp;amp;&amp;amp;&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;;&lt;/code&gt; separators? check this SO answer &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If previous command failed with &lt;code&gt;;&lt;/code&gt; the second one will run.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But with &lt;code&gt;&amp;amp;&amp;amp;&lt;/code&gt; the second one will not run.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is a "lazy" logical "AND" operand between operations.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The common solution is to add a &lt;code&gt;config.js.example&lt;/code&gt; file to version control (that contains empty/dummy values to document what's available).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Then you add &lt;code&gt;config.js&lt;/code&gt; to .gitignore (or whatever suits your VCS).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To run your application you simply copy &lt;code&gt;config.js.example&lt;/code&gt; to &lt;code&gt;config.js&lt;/code&gt; and put in the proper values.&lt;/p&gt;
