In software development, there are various types of test cases to ensure the application works as expected and meets all the user/stakeholder requirements.
Here are the main types of testing, particularly relevant to Next.js and React.js applications.

Unit testing: Unit testing involves testing individual components or functions to check it is working properly.

Integration testing: It focuses on testing the interaction of two or multiple components together to ensure they are working as expected.

End-to-end testing: End-to-end testing involves testing the application from start to end to make sure all parts of the app work properly together.

Acceptance testing:: Acceptance testing makes sure that the application meets all the acceptance criteria/requirements of the users/stakeholders.

Regression testing:: It involves re-running the previous tests again to make sure the application works properly after the recent changes.

Performance testing: Testing the application in various conditions such as load, stress, and scalability.

Security testing: It involves identifying vulnerabilities in the application and ensuring the application is protected against threats and attacks.

Usability testing: How easy and user-friendly is the application for end users.

Compatibility testing: Testing the application across different devices, browsers, and operating systems to make sure it works correctly for all.

Thanks for reading.

How do the modern build tools work? (vite, webpack)

 What is a build tool?

In simple words, a build tool is software that automates the process of converting the code into the final product.

This process can include the Compilation of code, Minification, Building, Code spitting, Transpilation, Testing, Assets optimization, and Providing a development environment.

Let's understand the process one by one :

Compilation of the code: In this process, the build tool compiles the code into browser-understandable languages eg. Typescript to Javascript, SASS to CSS.

Minification: This process includes minifying the files(removing the unnecessary code, comments, removing the white spaces, etc).

Code spitting: Break up the code into smaller chunks and load them available on demand.

Transpilation: Converting the moders ES6/ES7 module code into older version ES5 for older browsers.

Testing: Running tests to check if code changes can produce bugs.

Assets optimization: Compressing the images and other files to reduce the size for best use and fast load.

Development Server: Build tools provide the local server with live reloading for development.

 How build tool work?

Configuration: Build tools are configured using the config files.
e.g. webpack.config.js, vite.config.js. This config file defines the task to be performed on the source code.

File processing: This process includes transpiling of files such as typescript to javascript and SCSS to CSS

Output Generation: The final processed optimized files are generated and stored inside a defined folder e.g. build, gist.

Thank you for reading.

The best new feature in Next.js 13

Next.js is a popular JavaScript framework for building web applications, and its latest version (13.0) brings a number of new features and improvements to the table. In this post, we'll take a look at some of the key features of Next.js 13.0, and how they can benefit developers.

First and foremost, Next.js 13.0 introduces support for **ECMAScript **modules (ESM) as the default module format. This means that developers can now use the latest JavaScript features and syntax in their Next.js applications without having to worry about compatibility issues. This feature will make it easier for developers to write more efficient and maintainable code, and will also make it easier to share code between different projects.

Another major feature of Next.js 13.0 is the ability to build and export dynamic websites as static sites. This means that developers can now take advantage of the performance benefits of static sites, while still being able to build dynamic and interactive web applications. This feature is particularly useful for sites that have a lot of dynamic data, such as e-commerce sites or blogs.

Next.js 13.0 also includes a number of performance improvements, **including faster build times and improved runtime performance. This makes it easier for developers to create high-performing web applications that can handle large amounts of traffic and data. Additionally, the new version of Next.js also adds support for **Webpack 5, which brings improvements to the way assets are handled, and enables faster and more efficient builds.

Another important feature of Next.js 13.0 is the addition of **built-in support for TypeScript. **This means that developers can now use TypeScript to write their Next.js applications, which will help to catch and prevent errors early on in the development process. TypeScript also makes it easier to write more maintainable and scalable code.

Finally, Next.js 13.0 includes a number of other improvements and features, such as improved error reporting, better support for serverless functions, and support for the latest version of React (17).

All in all, Next.js 13.0 is a great release that brings a number of valuable features and improvements to the framework. With support for ESM as the default module format, improved performance, and built-in support for TypeScript, developers will find it easier than ever to build high-performing and maintainable web applications with Next.js.

Tasks Assigned to me for a role as a Frontend Developer at HypeMail.

These are the two tasks that they assigned to me for this role.

Task One :

Task Two :

I found these tasks simple, only there is a small part that is a bit time taking in the first question 3rd sub question.
Which was to create a div for every user input and every third div should have a background color sky-blue as shown in the image but I did it by modifying the same logic which is used for building TODO list in react.

And I got selected for the interview 😀😀.

GitHub Repo :

Top 12 VS Code extensions which makes your life much easier as a developer.

 1. Auto Rename Tag

Automatically rename paired HTML/XML tag, same as Visual Studio IDE does.

Link : Click Me

 2. Babel ES6/ES7

This is a standalone version of the syntax given with vscode-flowtype. Improves majorly on the grammar distributed by default with vscode. This language extension brings no changes to the intellisense.

Link : Click Me

 3. Bracket Pair Colorizer

This extension allows matching brackets to be identified with colours. The user can define which characters to match, and which colours to use.

 4. Code Spell Checker

A basic spell checker that works well with camelCase code.
The goal of this spell checker is to help catch common spelling errors while keeping the number of false positives low.

This is a Simple Quiz website.

Frontend is built using HTML, CSS & JavaScript

Deployed on Netlify

UI is not looking so good yeah but it's decent. I had to focus on the features not on UI because I've to know how it works. if you're also a JavaScript beginner and want to know how it works please check my git repo
