I Built Temporary Chat Rooms That Disappear

Most chat apps today feel heavy.

You install them, create accounts, verify emails, add profiles, join servers, configure settings… and only then can you actually talk.

So I started building something different:

A lightweight platform where anyone can create a temporary room and start chatting instantly.

No signup required.

The project is called OpenGlob Rooms.

The Idea

I wanted rooms to feel fast and temporary.

Like opening a conversation instead of joining a social network.

You create a room, share the link, and people join immediately.

No complicated onboarding.

Just:

create room
share link
talk

That simplicity became the entire philosophy behind the product.

Why I Started Building It

I noticed many products are becoming overloaded with features.

Everything tries to become:

a community platform
a workspace
a social network
an AI platform
a productivity tool

But sometimes people only need a room.

A quick place to:

discuss ideas
brainstorm
study together
host temporary communities
talk during events
collaborate instantly

So instead of adding more complexity, I focused on reducing friction.

Current Direction

Right now I’m experimenting with:

temporary rooms
cleaner UI
lightweight experience
instant room creation
mobile-friendly design

I’m also exploring AI-assisted rooms and collaborative features for the future.

Still very early-stage, but the goal is to make online conversations feel simpler again.

Tech & Building

I’m currently building projects as a student with limited resources and mostly experimenting while learning.

That means:

lots of iteration
redesigns
testing ideas publicly
learning by shipping

Honestly, that’s been one of the best ways to improve.

What I Learned So Far

People care more about:

speed
simplicity
clarity

than huge feature lists.

Reducing friction is underrated.

Final Thoughts

The internet already has enough bloated platforms.

I wanted to experiment with something lighter.

Still building and improving every day.
