Case Study #0: The APCG logo

APCG is back, baby! We're also reimagining our brand.

APCG a.k.a. Aesthetically Pleasing Capstone Group is the name we choose for our capstone team. Capstone? you've asked, some Universities or courses call it thesis, in Quezon City Polytechnic University's I.T program we do capstone instead of thesis. (I ain't enumerating the difference, just Google it. LMGTFY)

The first thing we wanted to do is to refresh our aging logo to a modern one.

We know memes, we also love anime. So why not combine it to make a logo.

The problem with that logo is that it feels like it's just a spoof, so we also came up with another one:

To breakdown:

The logo has variations. A full-colored, duotone, monotone and one in just black.
The one of the top-left is inspired by Google I/O logo

The logo we deserve

Yesterday, I contacted Emel and Myra to come up with a new logo for APCG. Surprisingly, they have the time to do it.

This is just my first idea of our new logo, I made a 3 design study so that you can choose if ever. Most of these logo focuses on what's our company not only being just a modern logo but also reflects on our image on what and who company we are.

I believe that our company will be known as aesthetically that's why I intend the logo as a modern aesthetic kind of logo or icon and here's the outcome of it.

We picked the second one, here's how Emel came up with the idea:

It's so simple, it combines the letters of APCG to a single icon.

Now the next thing we need to do is pick a color. I wanted it to be purple. Purple feels ambitious.

Myra joined the fun 🙌 and applied colorways to the logo. We all know that women see better colors than men (no arguments here). We also ditched the wordings and replace it with a simple lowercased APCG.

We are APCG 🚀🌕

Way back in 2019, we're just a bunch of kids who have the slightest idea of what we're doing, and yet we are a team. We love websites, we create apps, and we like to design.

Fast forward to 2022, we're all professionals now. Some of us are now full-time graphic designers, a UI/UX designer, web developers, app developers, video editors, network engineers, and more. You know, the usual I.T. stuff. We are proudly a product of a local university in Quezon City, Philippines.

All we have before is a vision. That vision is to become a startup creative agency that can do all sort of things ranging from graphic design to full-blown software development. We know to ourselves that we can! What we need to do now is to prove it.

The name Aesthetically Pleasing Capstone Group won't work for a startup company so we're simply going with APCG.

Our logo is one of the small steps we are making to make our vision of a thriving startup company to a fruition.
