A home page also known as the index page, is the first page of a website that talks about a product or a service.

The uniqueness and user focused design of a Home page helps a business to turn visitors into customers.

As a product or service based business, what you really need to get the attention of your customer’s is not just an online website, but a great home page focused on presenting your services or products to the visitors on your website.
Clients and customers loves a platform that can help them to feel connected to a product or a service. So what you really need to boost your sales online is not just a website, but a customer focused home page that helps your customer’s to get access to your product or services easily.
One of the reason why so many startups and company’s fails to change visitors to customers online is because their website, which was meant to represent what they are all about, fails to resonates with their visitors. The next time you are considering taking your startup or business online, think of building a home page that will communicate with your users.

In the end, we will not remember how good you are with coding, but how many people are using your codes

Software development is all about shipping. Our jobs as developers is not just to write codes, but build solutions that other people will find useful.

You don’t get paid for writing codes, you get paid for shipping useful solutions.

Most developers thinks in terms of writing codes and using algorithms. Whereas, Project Manager's thinks about shipping the codes. Companies and business are not looking for someone who can just write codes, but knowledge of coding is very important, I don’t dispute that, but shipping solutions is what companies prioritise on than coding. So the next time you click on your IDE or Code Editor, you should ask yourself “am I going to ship this code”. The new metric for measuring how good a developer is, is how many projects you have shipped, not how many lines of codes you can write. In 2020, you should focus more on building things that people find useful.

Andriod Operating System runs on Linux Kernel. As a Software Engineer whose main desktop environment is Linux, I find it easy working with termux, a mobile terminal that allows you to turn your Andriod device into a working environment. With termux, you can install all the command line tools needed for you to start your coding journey on mobile. As someone coming from the background of wapka.mobi, I’m used to coding on mobile. Why don’t you try it out today? I strongly believe you will be thrilled that you can actually continue your coding journey without a laptop or desktop. Get Termux from Google’s playstore. Run apt update && apt upgrade

Note: make sure you have internet access, and you should also verify that coreutils is installed on termux by typing apt install coreutils.

To install nodejs, simply type this command apt install nodejs.

Why you need to brand yourself as a Software developer

Personal branding is one of the major challenge Software developers face today. As a software developer, your job is not all about building softwares, your job is to build businesses and develop solutions to problems.

This are the three basic questions that comes to every software developers mind in their software development journey:

How do I get to market myself as a developer?

How do I get that dream job with that company?

How do I get a full time job or a freelance job?

This are some of the basic questions I had after coding for 6+ years without a full time job.

As a software developer, you will get distracted by the market into thinking about stack’s and learning something new. It can be a new programming language, framework, or library.

While it is easy for us to learn about our craft and tools, we often find it difficult to market what we do. Sometimes we meet people who are less skilled than us getting good pay, and we know something is really missing.

What is it that is missing you may ask? I believe it is Personal branding. As Developers we learn about technologies, but we fail to learn about personal branding which involves learning a lot of what is termed today as peoples skills and emotional intelligence.

It takes negotiations and business skills to sell anything to someone. As a developer, you are solving problems and adding values to businesses.

Here are the few tips:

Build a portfolio website.

Commit all your projects to a repository using git.

Use social media platforms to market yourself.

Attend local meetups, and get to meet other developers.

Read more of business and entrepreneurial related books.

Bonus: Start writing articles on your own personal blog.

Being a nerd is cool but not being able to make a living out of your craft is frustrating.
