&lt;li&gt;Manage resources and helps to run hardware and application software.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Runs when system starts and runs till end.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Essential for proper functioning of a system.
For example :- OS, language processor and device drivers.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

  Application Software
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Perform a group of coordinated functions, tasks and activities.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Perform a specific task according to their type.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Runs when user required.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Not extremely important for functioning of system.
For example :- Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Web Browser etc.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
