Every major job-board ATS has a free, keyless JSON API. Here's how to use all seven

Most companies don't host their own careers page. They use an applicant tracking system (ATS) like Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby or Workday. What a lot of developers don't realize is that those careers pages are powered by public, keyless JSON endpoints, so you can pull every open job straight from the employer, live, without scraping HTML.

I ran these endpoints against 4,000+ real companies while building a jobs dataset. Here's the cheat sheet, plus the gotchas that cost me the most time.

ATS

Endpoint

Greenhouse

GET boards-api.greenhouse.io/v1/boards/{slug}/jobs?content=true

Lever

GET api.lever.co/v0/postings/{slug}?mode=json
(EU:
api.eu.lever.co
)

Ashby

GET api.ashbyhq.com/posting-api/job-board/{slug}?includeCompensation=true

Workday

POST {tenant}.wd{N}.myworkdayjobs.com/wday/cxs/{tenant}/{site}/jobs

SmartRecruiters

GET api.smartrecruiters.com/v1/companies/{slug}/postings

Recruitee

GET {slug}.recruitee.com/api/offers/

Workable

POST apply.workable.com/api/v3/accounts/{slug}/jobs

Gotchas that bit me:

Ashby's
isRemote
is true for hybrid roles. Use
workplaceType
. In my sample, ~45% of "remote" jobs were actually hybrid.

Ashby salaries can have multiple tiers. Reading only the first one gives the wrong range; take the min and max across all
Salary
components.

Greenhouse
content
is double-encoded HTML (
<p>
). Unescape it first.

Workday caps at 2,000 results, 20 per page, and only returns
total
on the first page.

Recruitee dates look like
2026-10-27 12:11:34 UTC
, which isn't ISO 8601, so most parsers choke.

The same slug can exist on several ATSs (often a stale test board). Pick the one with the most jobs.

Full guide with code for each platform: https://arabinowe.github.io/job-board-apis/

Disclosure: I also packaged all of this into hosted tools (linked at the bottom of the guide) for people who'd rather not maintain it. The guide itself is free and CC-licensed.
