This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass

 What I Built

I built WildQuest AI , a nature-inspired web app that encourages people to spend less time scrolling and more time exploring the world around them.

The idea is simple: going outside doesn't always need a big plan. Sometimes, all you need is a small challenge to make an ordinary day more interesting.

WildQuest AI lets users choose their mood, preferred activity, and available time to discover outdoor mini-adventures. These can include exploring nature, observing things we usually overlook, photography challenges, and mindful outdoor breaks.

I wanted to make stepping away from screens feel less like a task and more like an adventure.

The project currently has a working frontend with demo quests. My next goal is to integrate a hosted open-source AI model to generate more personalized adventures dynamically.

 Demo

🌐 Live Website: https://narbiya-132.github.io/WildQuest-AI/

 Code

💻 GitHub Repository: https://github.com/narbiya-132/WildQuest-AI

The project currently uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with separate files for the website structure, styling, and functionality.

 How I Built It

I built WildQuest AI using:

HTML5 for the website structure.

CSS3 for the responsive layout and nature-inspired design.

JavaScript for user interactions, demo quest generation, and the adventure journal.

GitHub Pages to deploy the website.

I wanted the project to be lightweight and easy to access, without requiring users to install anything.

For the AI component, I plan to integrate a hosted open-source model through Hugging Face Inference Providers, with a secure backend using Cloudflare Workers. This would allow the app to generate adventures based on user preferences without requiring a local AI model installation.

The current deployed version uses predefined demo quests; the hosted AI integration is still a work in progress.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation makes it easier for students and independent developers to experiment, learn, and build useful tools without needing access to expensive infrastructure.

For WildQuest AI, open-source AI models could make personalized adventure generation more accessible and give me the flexibility to experiment with different models, prompts, and approaches.

I also like that open-source development encourages people to learn from one another, improve existing ideas, and contribute features that make a project more useful.

I see this project as a starting point, and I hope to keep improving it with community feedback and contributions.

 My Agent Session

Optional — add your DevRelay agent session link here if you have one.

 Prize Categories

Add the partner prize categories that match your actual submission requirements. Remove this section if none apply.

Built with curiosity, a little code, and the idea that there's a whole world beyond our screens.

WildQuest AI — Less scrolling. More exploring.
