Day 1 of My Microsoft Fabric Learning Journey – Exploring Lakehouses

Today I started my Microsoft Fabric learning journey using the 60-day trial, and my first topic was the Lakehouse.

Coming from a background where I've worked mostly with traditional databases like MySQL, the idea of combining data lake and data warehouse capabilities in a single place was interesting to explore.

A few things that stood out to me:

A Lakehouse can store both structured and unstructured data.
Data can be accessed using SQL, which feels familiar for anyone with database experience.
The same data can also be analyzed using Spark for large-scale processing.
Microsoft Fabric brings multiple analytics capabilities together instead of switching between different tools.

One thing I found particularly useful is the SQL Analytics Endpoint. It allows querying Lakehouse data using SQL without needing to move the data elsewhere.

Today's learning was more about understanding the architecture and concepts rather than building something complex, but it gave me a clearer picture of how modern analytics platforms are evolving.

My goal over the next 60 days is to consistently learn Microsoft Fabric, document my progress, and eventually build real-world projects on top of it.

If you're learning Microsoft Fabric as well, I'd be interested to know what topics or projects you're currently working on.
