What is Web 3.0 ?

As far as the name is concerned, Web 3.0 is the latest generation of internet services for websites and applications. It's also known as the Semantic Web. Semantic Web refers to W3C's vision of Web of linked data.

 So what is Web 3.0?

First, let's make it clear, what is Web 1.0, Web 2.0, and Web 3.0,

Let's understand it with a simple example, so, you, the reader, are reading a blog on the website, and what you can do is only read it, you can't comment, like, you can't do anything with the website. It just displays the specific information, etc.

This was Web 1.0, the first stage of the World Wide Web evolution. It lasted from around 1989-to 2005, also known as "Read-Only Websites" or "Web of information connections", as said by the innovator of Web 1.0,

Here's an example of the Web 1.0 ⇒ link.

In the above example, the user can just see the website and read and go, we don't know whether the user will be back or not. This was how Web 1.0 used to work.

Let's proceed, let's switch to different websites, i.e. Blogger, here, where you can make your blogs, read them, preview them, add images, also you can comment in the blog, in order to give some reviews and suggestions to the blogger, etc.

This is what Web 2.0 is, Web 2.0 are in the market since, 2002, when Netscape and others, started using it. It was also termed as "Web as a Platform", because, it was for the first time that, applications built on the Web. Earlier, it was used to be just desktop applications, etc.

So, Andrew McAfee, referred to an acronym as SLATES for the features of Web 2.0 websites, let's take a look at them,

Search: Finding information through keyword search

Links to other websites: Connect information sources together using the model of the Web.

Authoring: The ability to create and update content leads to the collaborative work of many authors. Wiki users may extend, undo, redo and edit each other's work. Comment systems allow readers to contribute their viewpoints.

Tags: Categorization of content by users adding "tags" — short, usually one-word or two-word descriptions — to facilitate searching. For example, a user can tag a metal song as "death metal". Collections of tags created by many users within a single system may be referred to as "folksonomies" (i.e., folk taxonomies).

Extensions: Software that makes the Web an application platform as well as a document server. Examples include Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, etc.

Signals: The use of syndication technology, such as RSS feeds to notify users of content changes.

So, if we say in terms of Information Technology, Web 2.0 mostly focused on the enhancement of the frontend of the website, which made the user experience more stylish and appealing to the eyes.

So, these were the two stages of WWW, now let's talk about Web 3.0,

Web 3.0, also called Semantic Web, because it enables computers to manipulate information on our behalf. With the help of Artificial Intelligence and Web 3.0, content creation will be at its peak, as content will be of high level and it'll reach correct users out there.

Some of the features of Web 3.0:

Semantic Web

The next evolution of the Web involves the Semantic Web. The semantic web improves web technologies in order to generate, share and connect content through search and analysis based on the ability to understand the meaning of words, rather than on keywords or numbers. It'll help the machines to develop their own logic because of AI.

Artificial Intelligence

Combining this capability with natural language processing, in Web 3.0, computers can understand information like humans in order to provide faster and more relevant results. They'll become more and more powerful, by developing logic with the user and automating the content creation

3D graphics and SVGs

three-dimensional design is being used extensively in websites and services in Web 3.0. Museum guides, computer games, eCommerce, geospatial contexts, etc. are all examples that use 3D graphics.

Connectivity

With Web 3.0, information is more connected thanks to semantic metadata. As a result, the user experience evolves to another level of connectivity that leverages all the available information.

Ubiquity Content is accessible by multiple applications, every device is connected to the web, the services can be used everywhere.

Applications of Web 3.0:

Companies like Apple, Amazon, and Google are massive moving to the new technology along with their products, because, this will help them to secure the user information and turn this info into factual knowledge for machines, in order to execute it.

Apple has started implementing Web 3.0 in Siri, Wolfram Alpha, started using Web 3.0 in their 'computational knowledge systems'.

Conclusion:

So, we've seen, what Web 3.0 is, now just think, it is in its early stage and hasn't yet covered all the internet and when it'll be covering the internet, it'll be just awesome and massive as well. Every single day, a new cryptocurrency comes up, so start grabbing this opportunity, start learning and understanding about the Crypto Culture, how to get into those companies, coz they'll be growing massively in coming years, how to use smart contracts and Ethereum, etc.

My Journey Till Now . . .

I , Ashutosh Yadav, a Frontend Developer, also a moody blogger (write blogs sometimes but can't keep the consistency), I'll be sharing my journey while travelling in the train of development and programming. So, how did I started, I was introduced back in 2019, I felt a bit boring while I started the programming, I started with C language, as it was required for college, I didn't took programming seriously, I and my friends played CS as we sat in one corner of our CP Lab, it was first year of my engineering journey, currently in Second Year (4th sem), my field is Information Technology Engineering in Mumbai.

This went everyday as we group of friends played CS GO in every lecture of Programming, we didn't have any aim of learning programming, we had completed our High School, so we were enjoying our first sem, then our first sem came, we thought it might be similar to our HSC, but it wasn't , was bit tough,as almost every 7th student in 10, had a KT, or was failed in the exam, I got 8/10 ptr in my first sem, didn't kmow how, i just studied one week ago before our examinations, as it was all
going nice and funny, we were enjoying college and life, a virus struck and changed our lives, yes it was the deadliest one, which is still now, suddenly we got locked into our homes, and some of them in hostels, no CS Go, we played PUBG, during days and nights, we did this for two-three months, as I was feeling bored day-by-day as repeating the same stuff again and again , I started watching youtube videos, who doesn't but not the entertainment one, the infotainment, the one which give information as well as entertainment, I got to know about some of the student communities around which I can join and meet new people and make connections, I joined those communities and soon got engaged with some of the student communities.

As I joined the student communities, there were many young students than me with a lot of knowledge of web development, graphic design , social media marketing and many more, I don't know what happened to me and I too started exploring this fields and in the next 2-3 months I explored all the freelancing field, I got more inclined towards web development, desgining, and content writing. So, I started learning web development from Coursera, It was an amazing course for the first two days, but soon I got bored too, then I started making websites form youtube tutorials and I loved that, after developing certain websites, I got a team of web developers.

We, were a group of 5 developers with an aim of building websites and making a freekancing agencies, which will provide services like web development, app development, but it was too early, as we just learned only the ABCs of the web development, we explored more and more, we developed some more projects with the team, but it didn't worked out, soon we started working, more on the individual projects, and I started exploring web development, as all of them have examinations and stuffs, I too have them, but I didn't took it seriously, as it just learn and write, I focused more on projects and development, I started taking part in hackathons, as I got to know it'll help me to grow as well as to connect with more people as well, I took part , but due to lack of consistency I wasn't able to crack one, this happened several times from Sept-2020 to April 2021, I learned a lot but got stuck in tutorial hell, so I started and building projects in order to learn something.

And in April 2021, I got my first client, for contributing in her projects as a frontend developer and completed the project in one week, and aftert two weeks, I got the another who wanted to get his bugs fixed like background-image and slideshow, transitions ,etc. It was awesome experience, I learned a lot more and I started working on my portfolio, and started taking part in CODEDAMN WEEKLY CHALLENGES, it's an awesome challenge as it 'll help you grow as well.

Currently I'm learning MERN Stack and will soon post my projects here on Hashnode, Hope you liked reading about the journey of mine as a developer, do share yours too, would love to know how did you developed your love towards development and programming ...

On day 14, I created a game using JavaScript, which the user can play, it's almost the clone of the dragon game, that we play when there is not internet connection, it's an awesome game, please ignore the Frontend part, it's not so good, I used animation attribute in CSS, and the class list in JavaScript to access the element with animate class present in HTML,
For playing the game, click on the screen or click any key on your keyboard, I added this feature with the help of in-built function by adding onClick and onKeyPress in the HTML tags.

Do check it,
Pomodoro and ToDo...

On day 7 & 8 of #100DaysOfCode, I made a Pomodoro app and a todo list app both using JavaScript, this can be used to manage both time as well as maintain discipline among the user, from which he/she can track their works by adding tasks in the ToDo and can manage their work by using a Pomodoro technique,
So What is a Pomodoro technique?
---> Pomodoro Technique is the time management technique which is used by many students who are in their teens, in order to manage their work,
A Pomodoro, is a 25:5 minutes techniques,
Eg.. Lets take an example, let's say you are a developer in Google or at any of your dream job destination. You are assigned a task, you don't know how to manage your time, because you get distracted very easily, so how we can overcome this is by using this technique, by concentrating 25 minutes only on assigned task, and after 25 mins, take 5 min rest, continue this cycle for around four times, also keep track by adding todo, and make commitment to yourself, that you'll be completing the listed toDo's in this 25 minutes with no distractions.

For checking out the project I made, here's the link,

On Day 6, I made a dynamic landing page which changes its background according to the time in India, also displays time and the person can add or delete his/her name.
What I learnt on this day?
---> Date class
---> Difference and applications between arrow function and normal function, I preferred normal function as I've used Java as a first language.
