The CS Degree Comparison Trap (And Why Struggling is Actually Cool)

In this post, I don't want to be overly professional or post some perfectly structured, AI-generated essay. I just want to be real about what it actually feels like to be a CS student.

 🚨 The Comparison Trap

In a Computer Science degree, no matter how much work you put in, it always feels like someone else did it way before you. That demotivation is completely real, and it weighs on you.

 ⚡ Why Struggling is Cool

But there’s one thing everyone needs to remember:

Struggling is cool.

Putting in the effort is cool.

Grinding is cool.

You just have to lock in. You aren't in a race against anyone else, and there is always plenty of time to catch up. So no matter how slow you feel you're moving, just keep going.

 🎯 The Mindset Shift

Never stop doing what you need to do. Never stop failing, because failure is just proof that you actually tried.

Just don't make the same mistake twice, and always believe that you’re going to make it sooner or later.

How are you handling the CS grind lately? Drop a comment below and let's talk about it!

How I Built My Resume and Applied to Summer Internships Today: A Step-by-Step Breakdown

Securing a summer internship can feel daunting, but today, I decided to stop overthinking and just dive in. I spent the day building a fresh resume and sending out applications.

Here is exactly how I tackled it today.

🛠️ Step 1: Crafting the Resume
Instead of stressing over the perfect phrasing, I used Claude to help me format and polish my resume. It helped me highlight my technical skills and structure my project bullet points using the Action Verb + Task + Result formula so it's optimized for recruiter filters.

🚀 Step 2: The Application Blitz
Once my resume was locked in as a PDF, I focused on a few different channels to maximize my reach:

ZipRecruiter: Used this to quickly find and apply to active, local summer tech roles.

AWS She Mentorship Program: Applied here to connect with mentors, grow my technical skills, and get a foot in the door at AWS.

UN Volunteering: Submitted an application to gain hands-on, real-world project experience while contributing to a great global cause.

📊 Today's Takeaway**
The hardest part of the internship hunt is just starting. Your resume doesn't need to be flawless—it just needs to accurately represent your current skills and your willingness to learn.

If you've been putting off your applications, consider this your sign to just open a tab and submit that first one!

💬 Let's Chat!
Are you currently hunting for summer opportunities? What platforms are you finding the most luck with? Let's swap tips in the comments!
