Crossed 200$ in revenue with my first side project

 1300 signups and 200$ in revenue on linkcollect.io 🥳

What is linkcollect.io and how it helps content writers, bloggers and creators?

So I see lots of people on here, linkedin and twitter curate and share some useful resources, that's great and it sure helps a lot of people and also the curator

but there's a problem, it becomes difficult to manage and re-share, copy pasting link again and again while posting on multiple platforms, also difficult to manage, access and retrieve to share later with someone.

That's why we have been working on linkcollect.io for few months to help people better manage their bookmarks, learning resources and share resources cross platforms easily. LinkCollect is made to do all thing links, it helps in

Personal / private bookmarking (all collections or profile can be made private)

Social bookmarking (make, collect and share resources 5x faster, all your resources are just a click away in your browser)

Discover and search across collections (find learning resources and other useful links that people collect, and save them too)

Share your linkcollect profile, all groups of collections at once

and more stuff that we will be adding on as we proceed : )

I Lost my job, spent months building something like Pinterest for links, now has 900+ users

Hey builder, here's my story of building linkcollect.io , and how it grew to around 900 (almost 1k 🤩) users.

I was working at an early stage startup till march 2023, things went otherwise. I lost my job (fired) because the company kinda went bankrupt.

Just after this happened, i started thinking of building some side projects and that's where i got this idea of building a resource aggregator because lots of people were asking me how did i learn software development and stuff again and again and i wanted to be able to just share them the resources i used. So i thought of building a tool that does this.

I went ahead, and started building linkcollect.io. the V1 MVP got ready within 3-4 weeks, which at that time was just a browser extension that helped people save and organise resources and links in folder, just like any other bookmark manager.

V1 launch did fine, i built it and launched on twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. I got around 200 people using it after 2-3 weeks of the launch.

v2 launch was pretty good, before the launch we were at around 490 something users, but as soon as we launched and started posting everywhere we could. the user base kind of started going, which means now we had more than enough users to collect feedback from to iterate for the next version.

But what i wanted to build, initially when i started is live and the fact the people are using it, and it's helping them a lot (from feedback) is amazing.

How I built a Side Project that has 500+ Users

In this blog post, I want to share the exciting journey of creating my side project, LinkCollect.io from the idea's inception to its successful launch and growth (500 is not alot but good number for us), I'll take you through the steps I took to bring LinkCollect.io to life

The Birth of LinkCollect.io:
It all started with a common problem: organizing and managing web links. As a frequent internet user, I struggled with keeping track of valuable online resources. This led me to create LinkCollect.io, a platform to collect and organize links efficiently.

Joining Buildspace.so:
To make my idea a reality, I joined Buildspace.so, a six-week program focused on building web applications. Working alongside a talented team, we dedicated ourselves to bringing LinkCollect.io to life.

The Sprint-Working Experience:
During the program, we adopted a sprint-working approach, allowing us to make significant progress in a short time. We leveraged teamwork and collaboration to develop LinkCollect.io from scratch. we used to share updates every week publicly on twitter, instagram and linkedin. this helps some words to spread and gained us our initial users, although it was not alot but enough for us to get some intial feedback to improve and iterate upon.

Tech Stack and Development:
We chose a modern tech stack for LinkCollect.io, using Node.js and MongoDB for the backend and React for the frontend. This combination ensured mid - scalability, user-friendliness, and fast performance.

What is linkcollect?
LinkCollect.io offers powerful features to enhance link organisation, helps in sharing group of tabs and links with anyone in just few click. take this link for e.g Users can save and categorize links into collections, making it easy to find and revisit resources. Sharing collections and collaboration made faster within teams or communities. Our main focus point is simplicity, we don't offer 100's of feature but whatever we offer we make sure that the user don't have to go anywhere else to solve that problem again.

Growth and User Engagement:
Since its launch, LinkCollect.io has grown to over 500 active users. Positive user feedback and engagement have been crucial to its success. Regular updates and user-focused improvements have helped build a loyal user base.

Conclusion:
By doing is the best way to learn anything and become good at it. Build more

As I continue to improve LinkCollect.io, I am excited about the possibilities and the positive impact it can have on individuals and teams managing their valuable online resources.

i will be sharing my weekly progress here, right on this platform... we will soon be launching v2, that will bring bunch of cool and most request features on to the platform.

PEECE ✌️
