Provide storage for the private website in Microsoft Azure

• Create a storage account for the company private documents.
• Configure redundancy for the storage account.
• Configure a shared access signature so partners have restricted access to a file.
• Back up the public website storage.
• Implement lifecycle management to move content to the cool tier.
`Create a storage account and configure high availability.

Create a storage account for the internal private company documents. In the portal, search for and select Storage accounts.`

Select + Create.

Select the Resource group created in the previous lab.
Set the Storage account name to private. Add an identifier to the name to ensure the name is unique.
Select Review

Create the storage account.

Wait for the storage account to deploy, and then select Go to resource.

This storage requires high availability if there’s a regional outage. Read access in the secondary region is not required. Configure the appropriate level of redundancy.
In the storage account, in the Data management section, select the Redundancy blade.

Ensure Geo-redundant storage (GRS) is selected.
Refresh the page.
Review the primary and secondary location information.
Save your changes.

Create a storage container, upload a file, and restrict access to the file.
Create a private storage container for the corporate data.
In the storage account, in the Data storage section, select the Containers blade.

Select + Container.

Ensure the Name of the container is private.
Ensure the Public access level is Private (no anonymous access).
When you have time, review the Advanced settings, but take the defaults.
Select Create.

For testing, upload a file to the private container. he type of file doesn’t matter. A small image or text file is a good choice. Test to ensure the file isn’t publically accessible.
Select the Private

Select Upload.

Browse to files and select a file.
Upload the file.

Select the uploaded file.

The Overview tab, copy the URL.

Paste the URL into a new browser tab.
Verify the file doesn’t display and you receive an error.

An external partner requires read and write access to the file for at least the next 24 hours. Configure and test a shared access signature (SAS)
Select your uploaded blob file and move to the Generate SAS tab.
In the Permissions drop-down, ensure the partner has only Read permissions.
Verify the Start and expiry date/time is for the next 24 hours.
Select Generate SAS token and URL.

Copy the Blob SAS URL to a new browser tab.

Verify you can access the file. The uploaded image file will display in the browser. Other file types will be downloaded

Configure storage access tiers and content replication.
To save on costs, after 30 days, move blobs from the hot tier to the cool tier
Return to the storage account.
In the Overview section, notice the Default access tier is set to Hot.

In the Data management section, select the Lifecycle management blade.

Select Add rule.

Set the Rule name to movetocool.
Set the Rule scope to Apply rule to all blobs in the storage account.
Select Next.

Ensure Last modified is selected.
Set More than (days ago) to 30.
In the Then drop-down select Move to cool storage.
As you have time, review other lifecycle options in the drop-down.
Add the rule.

The public website files need to be backed up to another storage account.

In your storage account, create a new container called backup. Use the default values

Navigate to your publicwebsite storage account. This storage account was created in the previous exercise.
In the Data management section, select the Object replication blade.

Select Create replication rules.

Set the Destination storage account to the private storage account.
Set the Source container to public and the Destination container to backup.
Create the replication rule.

Follow these steps below;
Step:1: Create a Resource group or make use of an existing Resource group.
An existing Resource group was used here.
Step:2: In the Azure portal, search for and select Storage accounts

Step:3: Select Create

Step:4: On the Basics tab, select your Resource group, Provide a Storage account name. The storage account name must be unique in Azure, Set the Performance to Standard and select Review, and then Create.

Step:5: Select Create

Step:6: Wait for Deployment is in progress

Step:7: Deployment is complete and go to resource

Step:8: In your storage account, in the Data management section, select the Redundancy blade

Step:9: Select Locally-redundant storage (LRS) in the Redundancy drop-down and select Save

Step:10: In the Settings section, select the Configuration blade.

Step:11: Ensure Secure transfer required is Enabled. Ensure the Minimal TLS version is set to Version 1.2, Allow storage account key access is Disabled and click Save

Step:12: In the Security + networking section, select the Networking blade.

Step:13: Ensure Public network access is set to Enabled from all networks and Save.

HOW TO CONNECT AN IOT FIELD DEVICE (RASPBERRY PI SIMULATOR) FROM THE FIELD TO AN AZURE CLOUD IOT HUB FOR COMMUNICATION AND DATA

What is IOT?
Internet of Things (IoT) Central in Microsoft Azure is a managed IoT application platform that enables users to build, manage, and operate IoT solutions with ease. It provides a comprehensive and scalable environment for connecting, monitoring, and managing IoT devices, simplifying the deployment and management of IoT applications.
What is Raspberry PI Simulator?
Raspberry Pi Simulator is a powerful tool for prototyping, testing, and learning about Raspberry Pi projects and IoT applications, providing a virtual platform that mimics the functionality of a physical Raspberry Pi.
However, it allows users to simulate a Raspberry Pi with various sensors, interact with Azure services, and build IoT applications in a virtual environment.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this.
Step:1: Log on to Microsoft Azure account and search for IOT Hub

Step:2: Click on the Create Icon

Step:3: Fill the necessary details such as; Resource group, IOT hub name, Region, Tier, Daily message limit

Step:4: Click Review+Create

Step:5: Click Create

Step:6: Wait for deployment to be completed

Step:7: Go to resource after deployment is completed

Step:8: You must create a device for it. Click on devices icon.

Step:9: Click on Add device

Step:10: Create (Device name, select “Symmetric key” and Enable) and save.

Step:11: Click on the device created

Step: 12: Copy “Primary connection string” and make sure Enable connection to IOT Hub is Enabled

Step:13: Initiate https://azure-samples.github.io/raspberry-pi-web-simulator/ on a web browser , insert or paste the “primary connection string “ from the IOT device portal on Azure into “Line 15” on the Raspberry PI Simulator and click on RUN

Step:14: Raspberry starts blinking Red hence, communicating to the IOT Device in Microsoft Azure portal and recording data or messages as seen below.

Step:15: Go back to IOT Hub overview to show the messages received

HOW TO DELETE A PUBLIC IP ADDRESS IN MICROSOFT AZURE

Microsoft Azure provides a robust cloud platform that offers numerous services, including the allocation of public IP addresses for virtual machines and other resources. However, these public IP addresses can incur charges even when they are not actively in use. For those on a pay-as-you-go subscription, these costs can quickly add up. To manage your expenses efficiently, it is essential to delete any unused public IP addresses. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this.
Steps to Delete a Public IP Address in Microsoft Azure
Step:1: Search and select public IP address.

Step:2: Select any IP address.

Step:3: Click on Dissociate first, so that you won’t be charged by Microsoft.

Step:4: Click YES

Step:5: Click Delete

Step:6: Select Yes

How to create a Windows Virtual Machine using a QuickStart Templates

Azure QuickStart Templates are pre-configured templates provided by Microsoft and the community to facilitate the deployment of various Azure resources and solutions quickly and easily. These templates are built using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates. It is the fastest or shortest time to create an app on Azure.
Benefits of Using QuickStart Templates
• Timesaving: Quickly deploy complex solutions without having to configure each component manually.
• Reliability: Deployments are consistent and reliable, following best practices.
• Ease of Use: Suitable for both beginners and experienced users, providing a straightforward way to deploy Azure resources.
• Scalability: Easily scalable configurations that can be adjusted to meet changing requirements.
How to use a QuickStart Template
Step:1: Log on to your Microsoft Azure account
Step:2: Search the keywords “Deploy a custom template”

Step: 3: Select any common template you want to create and in this case I selected create a windows virtual machine

Step: 4: Choose a resource group, username and password of your choice

Step:5: Select Review+create. Ensure you wait to validate.

Step: 6: Deployment is complete and select “Go to resource group”

Step:7: The name of the virtual machine created is Simple-vm

CREATING MY FIRST RESOURSE GROUP AND VIRTUAL MACHINE ON MICROSOFT AZURE

Today, I'm excited to share my experience in setting up my initial Resource Group and Virtual Machine on Microsoft Azure. Before diving into the process, let's quickly define what a Resource Group and Virtual Machine entail. A Resource Group serves as a consolidated container for managing and organizing resources within a unified entity, while a Virtual Machine empowers users to generate and deploy virtualized replicas of computers equipped with diverse operating systems within the cloud. Now, let's explore the step-by-step procedure I followed to streamline this process.

Create a Resource Group

Name the Resource group as RG-Atee, select subscription and select Region

Validate and Create

Resource Group finally created (Rg-Atee).

Create a Virtual Machine

Basics: Select subscription and Resource group

Instant Details: Give a Virtual Machine name → Select Region →Select Availability option → Select Availability Zone
Choose and select options as highlighted in the screenshot. Image- Image is an operating system and windows 11 pro version is selected here.

Administrator Account
Create a Username → Password → Confirm password

Inbound Port
Choose Public inbound ports → Select Inbounds ports.

Confirm Licensing

Monitoring
Disable Diagnostics: Not to allow Microsoft to be notified from their end. Hence, for users’ privacy

Review and Create for validation

Redeployment Completed and Click on Go to resource.

Click on the IP Address

Increase the IP Address Idle time out to the maximum (30) and Save

Go back to Go to Resource and Click on Connect

Select Native RDP

Validate and configured. Download RDP File

Open the RDP Downloaded file, click on it to start the installation process, follow the instructions to log in with your Username and password you previously created.

Below is the result of virtual machine created.
