This is my submission for the DEV Frontend Challenge: Comfort Food Edition — Perfect Landing.

Awaaz-e-Zaika — A Taste of Home 🍛

Some food doesn't just fill your stomach.

It reminds you of home.

I built Awaaz-e-Zaika, an imaginary Indian comfort-food restaurant inspired by the meals we grow up with — the kind of food that reminds you of family, Sunday lunches, your grandmother's kitchen, or simply a long day that ended with something warm on the table.

Instead of creating another typical food-delivery website, I wanted to create an experience that feels warm, nostalgic, and personal.

The idea was simple:

What if a restaurant website could make you feel at home before you even tasted the food?

Journey

For this challenge, I wanted to explore something beyond just making a visually attractive landing page.

I wanted the design to communicate a feeling.

I started with the idea of Indian comfort food and built the visual identity around warmth — earthy colors, editorial typography, food photography, and small details that make the interface feel more like a place than a website.

Some of the details I focused on:

🍛 Warm, food-inspired visual identity
✦ Editorial-style typography and layouts
📱 Fully responsive design
🍽️ Interactive menu with category filtering
🛒 Add-to-basket interaction
✨ Story and ordering modals
📖 A storytelling section around the idea of home
💌 Newsletter interaction
🎨 Subtle textures and visual details
⚡ Smooth scrolling and micro-interactions

I also wanted the page to feel good on mobile, not just desktop, so responsiveness was an important part of the build.

The Idea Behind the Design

There are restaurants where you go for the food.

And then there are places where you go because you feel better after being there.

That's what I wanted Awaaz-e-Zaika to represent.

The colors, typography, photography, spacing, and interactions were all chosen around that idea.

Not just a restaurant.
A feeling.

What I Learned

This challenge reminded me that frontend development isn't only about writing code.

A technically good website can still feel empty.

The interesting part is figuring out how design, content, interaction, and code work together to create an experience.

While building this, I focused a lot more on:

Visual hierarchy
Responsive layouts
Typography
User experience
Micro-interactions
Semantic HTML
Clean JavaScript interactions
Creating a consistent visual language

The part I'm most proud of is that the project isn't just a collection of sections.

It has a personality.

If someone lands on the page and thinks,

“I wish this restaurant actually existed.”

then I consider the project successful. ❤️

What's Next?

If I continue developing Awaaz-e-Zaika, I'd love to add:

Real ordering functionality
A complete cart experience
Table reservations
Food animations
More regional Indian dishes
A proper backend
User accounts and order history

For now, it's a small concept built around a simple idea:

Good food doesn't just feed you.

Sometimes, it takes you home. 🍛
