This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend

 What I Built

The idea behind Yaadein came from a personal realization: being in my final year of college, I realized just how easily we begin to lose touch with the people who defined our everyday lives. I wanted to build something for the people we care about most.

That led to Yaadein ("memories" in Hindi),a fullstack web app that lets a close circle (friends, partners, or families) collectively seal shared moments into a digital time capsule, only to unlock and relive them together on a future date.

The idea was personal. I've watched people drift apart(including myself),not out of indifference, but out of the noise of daily life. Photos get buried in gallery apps. Inside jokes fade. The feeling of a trip, a graduation, a late night conversation it all dissolves quietly.

Yaadein solves this by creating Circles, private groups where everyone contributes their own notes and photos into a shared Memory Capsule. The capsule gets sealed with a future unlock date. On that day, every member of the circle gets to relive the memories all at once, together through a cinematic experience that includes an AI generated story narrative and a real voice narration synthesized by ElevenLabs.

Whether it's a friend group from college, a couple documenting their first year, a family preserving grandma's stories, or four roommates about to go separate ways, Yaadein is for anyone who wants to hold onto right now before it becomes back then.

The Real Problem It Solves
Most memory apps are personal archives photo dumps you scroll through alone. Yaadein makes remembering a shared, emotional, synchronized experience. Your circle contributes together. Your circle unlocks together. The AI weaves everyone's words into one story. And a warm human voice reads it back to you.

 Demo

📹 Demo Video

Here's a quick walkthrough of the core flow:

Create a Circle → Invite your people Each circle gets a unique invite code. Share it with whoever belongs in this memory.

Create a Capsule → Set the unlock date Name it. Describe what this chapter of life is about. Set a date — near or far.

Everyone contributes → Notes, captions, photos Every member adds their perspective. What they felt. What they'll never forget.

Seal it → Lock it until the time comes Once sealed, no new memories can be added. The vault is closed.

Unlock day → The cinematic reveal On unlock day, the AI generates a story summary weaving everyone's contributions together. ElevenLabs narrates it in a warm, emotional voice. A fullscreen memory slideshow plays automatically.

 Code

Deployed:yaadein
Github URL:Click to see github repo

 How I Built It

The AI at the Heart of It
Yaadein is powered by two open AI systems working together:

Ollama (Local LLM Llama 3.2)
When a capsule is unlocked, Yaadein calls a locally-running Llama 3.2 model via Ollama to generate the "Story of Us" a narrative that reads all the contributions from every member and weaves them into a single emotional, cohesive story.

The prompt is relationship-neutral by design it doesn't assume friends, lovers, or family. It simply asks Llama to honour whatever these people meant to each other.

ElevenLabs (Voice Narration)
Once the story is written, Yaadein passes it to ElevenLabs to synthesize it as a real human voice audio file — not robotic TTS. The voice model (eleven_multilingual_v2) is selected dynamically based on the capsule's title and theme:

🏖️ Trip / Party capsules → Antoni (energetic, lively)
💌 Future letter / secret vault capsules → Bella (soft, gentle)
🎓 Graduation / nostalgia → Rachel (warm, emotional)

Architecture

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Ollama Made the Core Possible Without a Cloud Bill
The story generation that sits at the heart of Yaadein — the part that reads what your friends wrote and turns it into something beautiful — runs on Llama 3.2 via Ollama, locally. No OpenAI subscription. No API cost per unlock. No data sent to a third-party server.

This matters enormously for what Yaadein is:

People are sharing vulnerable, personal, private things. A note written to a friend three years from now. A confession. A photo from a night they'll never forget. That data should not be processed by a commercial AI company's server farm.

With Ollama, the AI runs entirely on your own machine. The emotional content of your circle's memories stays inside your circle.

If I had relied on a closed LLM API, Yaadein would have been:

Expensive to run at any scale (per-token costs for personal, non-commercial use)
A privacy risk by design
Impossible to self-host meaningfully
Open-weight models like Llama 3.2 — made accessible through tools like Ollama — let a solo developer build a product that respects its users' privacy by architecture, not just by policy.

 Prize Categories
