****

*What I Built

Small businesses often struggle to create consistent social media content. A café owner might have great products and offers but lack the time, budget, or marketing expertise to turn them into engaging posts.

LocalBiz AI is a lightweight AI marketing assistant designed for local shops, cafés, restaurants, and other small businesses.

It helps users turn simple business information into ready-to-edit marketing content, including:

Instagram captions and promotional posts

WhatsApp marketing messages

Product descriptions and special-offer announcements

A seven-day social media content plan

Marketing content in English, Hindi, and Marathi

The goal is to help small businesses save time and create better marketing content without hiring a full-time marketing professional.

The potential business model is a free trial followed by an affordable subscription for regular content generation.

Demo

Live demo: [Add your deployed application link]

Demo video: [Add your video link, if available]

The demo will show how a user enters basic business details, selects a preferred language, and generates marketing content using an open-weight AI model.

Code

GitHub repository: [Add your GitHub repository link]

The project is intended to use a simple, modular architecture:

Python for application logic

Streamlit for the user interface

Ollama for running a compatible open-weight language model

SQLite for storing business preferences, if persistence is enabled

The code will be organized to make it easy to experiment with different models and improve the generated content.

How I Built It

I designed LocalBiz AI around the idea that small businesses need a focused tool rather than another general-purpose chatbot.

The application collects a business's name, category, products, offers, target audience, and preferred language. It then constructs a structured prompt and passes it to an open-weight language model to generate relevant marketing content.

The planned workflow is:

Collect basic business information.

Build a prompt tailored to the business and requested content type.

Run inference through Ollama using a compatible open-weight model.

Display the generated content for review and editing.

Allow the user to copy the final content for publishing.

The initial version prioritizes a small set of useful features rather than a complicated agent architecture. Future improvements could include saved brand preferences, reusable campaign templates, and feedback-based personalization.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation is central to this project because affordability and flexibility are important for the customers I want to serve.

Better control over costs

A small business may not be able to justify recurring AI API expenses for everyday marketing tasks. Running an open-weight model locally can reduce per-request costs when suitable hardware is available.

Privacy and control

With a properly configured local deployment, business information and prompts can remain on the user's device rather than being sent to an external inference provider.

Freedom to experiment

Different models may perform differently on regional languages, local business terminology, and promotional writing. An open-weight approach makes it possible to evaluate alternatives and customize the workflow without depending on a single provider.

Reduced vendor lock-in

The application can be designed around a replaceable model layer, making it easier to change models as performance, hardware requirements, and licensing options evolve.

A closed API may still offer better quality or convenience in some cases. My goal is to discover whether an open approach can provide a practical balance of quality, privacy, and cost for small businesses.

My First User

My next step is to test the application with a local café or shop owner.

I plan to ask the owner to provide real product details, generate a few promotional posts, and evaluate whether the content is useful enough to publish.

The most important questions are:

Does the generated content accurately represent the business?

Is it useful without extensive editing?

Does support for regional languages make a difference?

Would the owner pay for a recurring content-generation service?

I will update this section with actual feedback and willingness to pay after completing the test.

Prize Categories

[Add the applicable partner categories from the official challenge page after checking the eligibility requirements.]

What's Next?

I want to keep the project small, practical, and driven by real user feedback.

The next milestone is simple: get one business to try LocalBiz AI, learn what it actually needs, and improve the product based on that experience.

Building an AI application is interesting. Building one that someone genuinely finds useful enough to pay for is the real challenge.
