📺 The VHS vs. Netflix Dilemma: Why I’m Done "Soldering" My Backends Are you still buying VHS cleaners in 2026? 🧼📼

Let’s talk about the state of Backend Development. If you’re still building a custom API endpoint for every single CRUD element on your frontend, you aren't just "coding"—you're basically trying to watch a movie by:

 Finding a vintage VHS player.

 Sourcing the specific RCA cables.

 Buying a head-cleaner and a manual tape-rewinder.

Praying the magnetic tape doesn't snap mid-scene.

In the AI era, building a backend from scratch for standard data operations feels exactly like that. It’s manual, it’s fragile, and it’s a waste of your most valuable asset: Time.

🚀 Enter: The "Netflix" of Backend (BaaS)

Using a Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) like Supabase isn't "cheating"—it’s evolving. It’s hitting "Play" on a 4K stream while everyone else is still trying to figure out which cable goes into the yellow socket.

Let’s be honest: BaaS is clearly a concept born from the same logic as AI. It’s designed to:

🤖 Automate the Boring: No one should be writing their 500th "Login/Post/Delete" logic in 2026, that's like Genghis khan level of punishment in this era.

⚡ Simplify Complexity: Why manage server scaling when an intelligent infrastructure can do it for you?

🎯 Focus on the "What," not the "How"(Professional softskills, Problem solving): AI is teaching us to be Problem Solving Dev-Architects, not "Typists." BaaS allows you to focus on the unique business logic that actually matters.

🧠 Why This Matters During the AI Period

We are currently in a shift where Velocity is Currency. While you’re busy soldering the "cables" of a custom Express server, an AI-powered dev has already shipped three MVPs using BaaS and is currently refining their user experience.

Evolution isn't about losing control; it's about delegating the repetitive. If you can get 300 endpoints out of the box with a clean schema and a few clicks, why are you still searching for a VHS rewinder?

The verdict? Stop building "cables." Start building Experiences. 🚀

💡 Pro-Tip for my fellow Devs:

If you’re worried about losing "custom logic" by switching to BaaS, remember you can always use Database Functions (RPC) or Edge Functions. It’s like having the Netflix subscription but still being able to upload your own Director's Cut. 🎬

When I set out to build something that every founder, operator, and entrepreneur could rely on — whether you’re launching a startup or scaling an existing business — I knew it had to be intelligent, accessible, and truly helpful. That’s why I built Biz Advisor: an AI-powered business assistant that’s more than just a chatbot — it’s your digital advisor, mentor, and strategy partner.

👉 Try it live: https://biz-advisor.vercel.app

 🧠 What Biz Advisor Is

Biz Advisor is an AI-driven business companion designed to assist users through every stage of business growth — from ideation and operations to investments and strategic planning. Powered by DeepSeek V3, one of the latest large language models available through Nebius AI’s infrastructure, Biz Advisor delivers real-time insights and recommendations in natural language.

 What makes Biz Advisor special?

✅ Instant actionable insights — Ask business questions and get practical answers, not generic text.
✅ Multilingual support — Interact in ENGLISH, FRENCH, ARABIC, HAUSA, and YORUBA. — widening accessibility to non-English speakers.
✅ Business growth guidance — Get help with marketing, operations, finances, product strategy, and more.
✅ Chat history and continuity — Pick up where you left off with memory of your interactions.
✅ Accessible everywhere — Web-first, fast, and lightweight with a clean experience.

🤖 Why DeepSeek and Nebius AI?

Behind the scenes, Biz Advisor leverages DeepSeek V3, a next-gen conversational model from Nebius — an open-model infrastructure built for performance and scale. It handles nuanced business queries with context-aware responses, reasoning, and powerful understanding across domains.

Nebius’s support for open-source models and dedicated AI infrastructure lets us deliver high-quality responses at low latency — so Biz Advisor feels fast, smart, and responsive.

📚 Real Use Cases (Already in Action)

💡 “How should I grow my SaaS in a competitive space?”
Biz Advisor can outline step-by-step strategic moves — customer segmentation, pricing tactics, and tactical growth pushes.

📊 “What should my monthly marketing budget look like?”
Get data-driven guidance with explanation — not just guesses.

🌍 “How do I adapt my business model for different global markets?”
Multilingual support lets Biz Advisor tailor recommendations depending on language and local context.

 🛠 Built With Cutting-Edge Tech

Here’s a quick look at the stack that makes Biz Advisor possible:

🔹 DeepSeek AI (via Nebius) — For contextual business understanding and conversational intelligence.
🔹 Next.js & Vercel — For fast, scalable web delivery.
🔹 Multilingual UI — Accessible to global users right out of the box.

 🧩 Why This Matters

AI is transforming how businesses make decisions — but many tools still feel generic or siloed. Biz Advisor fills a gap: on-demand business advice without the price tag or friction of consultants. It brings context, nuance, and real conversational intelligence to entrepreneurs wherever they are in their journey.

 🧡 Join the Journey

I’d love for you to try it, give feedback, and share ideas for what the assistant could do next. Whether it’s forecasting revenue, refining product strategy, building pitch decks, or making smarter decisions — Biz Advisor is here to help.

🌐 Experience the future of business advice:

https://biz-advisor.vercel.app

Vibe Coded in Yola

This is a submission for the Built with Google Gemini: Writing Challenge

What I Built with Google Gemini

On Saturday, February 28th, 2026, I (Abdulazeez Yunusa)was at an event at the American University of Nigeria Yola, organized by Google Developers Group (GDG) Yola x Global AI Yola. The Workshop was a hands-on practical tutorial on how to use google Gemini and google AI studio to build website. I was able to tutor tens of young individuals on how to build a website or blog styled web using google Gemini and google AI studio. See pictures live from event:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/M1sF48HWJMnbk2oL6

 Demo

I used the GDG Women Tech Leader's(Zahra Idries) PC and online resources to demonstrate the project.

We used Gemini to create the right prompt for the app, this helped participants in creating a professional prompt to use thereby, bypassing all technical web-dev terminologies.

Then copied the prompt and paste on Google AI Studio. After generating preferred style of website, we finetuned to our liking. but google cloud was down at the moment so.

We proceeded with "how to create a GitHub account" and to push the vibe-coded project directly by using the SHARE button on the google AI studio platform, to link directly to the newly signed-in GitHub account.

Since the cloud was down at that moment, we used vercel.com, signed up, then linked the newly pushed GitHub project to vercel then host free.

https://vibecoded-in-yola.vercel.app/

 Key Takeaways and Lesson Learned.

At first, I was a bit shy because, I wasn't a good presenter, given I came 3rd place in my previous physical Hackathon competition with 3MTT Nigeria Adamawa state (State level Hackathon). Tech for good pitch. I had a decent project, but I only cared about showing the audience "how it works and why it is so important". It still felt like a loss because the group that came second was my team member who left my team to go create another team 6 hours before the event. Turns out, he only stuck around to gather information while he's busy working on his own mobile frontend UI design, the team that won had no project, they used my idea and a fictional project on GitHub that does even exist because none of them had a GitHub account. (It feels like a therapy relief to type all these.) I couldn't make up the tractions, monetary value, etc. But the first team did just that, hence they were handed the winner trophy.

However, I was often remarked as an exceptional tutor because everyone was able to build something that day either on PC or on phone.
So, it was a success for me, speaking clear to articulate message as well as getting relatable metaphors to describe features on the platform for simpler understanding was one of the things that helped me with the audience.

 Google Gemini Feedback

The Google AI studio does not accept SVGs, Uploaded Images or Short videos for animated visuals on website (on project src/image folder. Perhaps only image links) of which time was not on my side). Also, while trying to push to cloud, we noticed google cloud was down, so we had to use vercel. It might likely display but it won't appear on hosted page.
