DATA MIGRATION FROM LOCAL TO AZURE

Azure SQL Database is a recommended target option for SQL Server workloads that require a fully managed platform as a service (PaaS). SQL Database handles most database management functions. It also has built-in high availability, intelligent query processing, scalability, and performance capabilities to suit many application types.

SQL Database provides flexibility with multiple deployment models and service tiers that cater to different types of applications or workloads.

Let's setup the connection between the Local SQL to the AZURE SQL :

Block Diagram of the connectivity we will be making shown below.

We need to have SUBSCRIPTION in my case I'm using STUDENT SUBSCRIPTION.
Creating a Resource Group.

: Now Go to AZURE SQL and create the database.

While creating the database, create a server and provide Username and password in it.

Find the IP address of the system from where we will migrate the data .
Now we'll create a firewall and add rule and IP address to it and save it.

After the rule is added then copy the server name.

Now open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and click on connect. Then paste the server name and add username and password to it and click on connect.

Then we will able to see this in the left bottom .

Now select the Database we need to copy to Azure Database, and export the data.
Now do as per the instructions in the dialog box and click on Next button.

Now the local database is copied to AZURE Database.

By doing this we successfully migrated the local SQL Database to AZURE SQL Database.

SITE-TO-SITE CONNECTIVITY

A site-to-site virtual private network (VPN) is a connection between two or more networks, such as a corporate network and a branch office network. Many organizations use site-to-site VPNs to leverage an internet connection for private traffic as an alternative.

Creating a Site-to-Site Connectivity:
Block Diagram of the connectivity we will be making shown below.

We need to have SUBSCRIPTION in my case I'm using STUDENT SUBSCRIPTION.
Creating a Resource Group.

Creating a Virtual Network and 2 Subnets.

After creating the Virtual Network and Subnets we create the GATEWAY SUBNET.

Now we create a LOCAL NETWORK GATEWAY, and 2 Subnets that needs to be allowed by the company’s Subnet(if required).

Then we create a VIRTUAL NETWORK GATEWAY. This will take around 25-30mins to be created.

After the Virtual Network Gateway is created, we go to the CONNECTIONS tab and configure it and add it.

After the connection is made we click on it and then we click on Download Configuration. Here we provide Device Vendor, Device Family and Firmware Version and download the configuration file.

This file is then shared with the client so that they can configure from their end and Site-to-Site connectivity can be done.

By doing this we successfully completed the Site-to-Site(S2S) Connectivity using AZURE.

AZURE P2S and TRANSIT GATEWAY

AZURE POINT-TO-SITE CONNECTIVITY (P2S) and TRANSIT GATEWAY

A Point-to-Site (P2S) VPN gateway connection lets you create a secure connection to your virtual network from an individual client computer. A P2S connection is established by starting it from the client computer.

Creating a P2S Connectivity:

We need to have SUBSCRIPTION in my case I'm using STUDENT SUBSCRIPTION.
Creating a RESOURCE GROUP.

Creating a Virtual Network and creating a Subnet of IP (10.0.1.0/24).

Creating a Virtual Machine and including the Virtual Network with Subnet in it.

Now creating a Virtual Network Gateway. This will take around 20-25mins to be created.

In the mean time we create the root and child certificates. Now in Google we search for Point-to-site certificates . And then we create root certificate by copying the above code and running it in PowerShell.

Now we open search certificates in windows search and then we need to export the root certificate.

In the same manner we create the child certificate and export it as we have done while doing the root certificate.

After the certificates are created they are saved in the location provided by us (in my case Downloads section).

Then we go to Virtual Network Gateway and under Point-to-Site-Configuration we need to add the root credentials in it and save it and download the VPN Client.

Now we need to install the child certificate in the point desktop.

Now we extract the VPN that we had downloaded earlier. We will now go traverse in WindowsAmd64 folder and then run the application.

: Now we go to Settings>Network & Internet>VPN.

By doing this we successfully completed the Point-to-Site connectivity using AZURE.

TRANSIT GATEWAY

In this we do peering of more than 1 networks.

Step to create a Transit Gateway.

Follow the steps to create create another Virtual Network and create Subnet.
Create a Virtual Machine and include Virtual Network and Subnet into it.
We need to create a connection between the Virtual Networks so we need to do Peering under Virtual Network.

Need to create Certificates like we have done in P2S connectivity and install it in the Virtual Network Gateway.

Need to download the VPN Client.
Install the child certificate in the Point device.
Install the Application inside the VPN.

Now we go to Settings>Network & Internet>VPN.

By doing this we successfully completed the Transit Gateway using AZURE.

AZURE Virtual Machines(VMs).Creation of Linux VMs.

Azure VMs

A virtual machine, is no different than any other physical computer like a laptop, smart phone or server. It has a CPU, memory, disks to store your files and can connect to the internet if needed.
A hypervisor is the software that integrates the physical hardware and the VM's virtual "hardware".
The benefits of VMs are :

Cost Savings.
Agility and Speed
Lowered downtime
Scalability
Security Benefits

We can create virtual machine of windows and different versions of linux as well.

Creating a Virtual Machine (Linux):

First of all create a Resource Group .
Then click on the Virtual Machines under Azure Services.

Then click on Create.
Then choose Azure Virtual Machine.

Then choose the resource group you have created.
Then add a name to your Virtual Machine.
Then select region according to your needs.
In availability region select No infrastructure redundancy required.
In image select Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS Gen2.
Then under Administration Account choose Password under Authentication Type
Then add your username and password.
Under Inbound Port rules select SSH under Select inbound ports.
Customise NSG as per the need.

Then click on Next until you reach the Review + create.
Then click on create.

Need to wait for the virtual machine to be created.
Then we will see a screen like this.

Then go to your VM you created.
Then click on connect and select SSH.

Then copy the command.

Now open Xshell 7 on your desktop.
There paste the command you recently copied by right clicking from your mouse and select paste.

Then using your arrow keys erase -i private key path.

Then press enter.
Then click on Accept and Save.

Then enter your password you entered while creating your VM and click on OK.

Hence you are logged into your Linux VM.
