Breaking Barriers: My Journey in Tech

Stepping into the tech industry as an underrepresented individual can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. My journey began with curiosity and a deep love for problem-solving, but as I ventured further, I encountered hurdles that tested my determination.

Facing Challenges Head-On
One of the biggest challenges I faced was self-doubt. Coming from a non-traditional background, I often felt like I had to work twice as hard to prove myself. Imposter syndrome crept in, making me question whether I truly belonged. However, I soon realized that passion and perseverance are just as valuable as formal credentials. Through consistent learning, participating in coding communities, and seeking mentorship, I slowly built confidence in my skills.

Moments of Triumph
A turning point in my journey was when I successfully completed my first major project—a web application that aimed to provide accessible resources for mental health support. Seeing my work make a tangible difference in people’s lives reminded me why I started in tech in the first place. Another proud moment was when I contributed to open-source projects, collaborating with developers from around the world and learning from their experiences.

Lessons Learned and Insights Gained

Community is Everything – Finding a supportive network helped me navigate challenges and grow both technically and personally.
Failure is a Stepping Stone – Every mistake taught me something valuable. Instead of fearing failure, I learned to embrace it as part of the process.
Representation Matters – Seeing others like me in the industry gave me the courage to keep going. Now, I strive to be that inspiration for someone else.

To allies: Advocate for inclusivity, create opportunities for diverse voices, and foster environments where everyone feels valued. Small actions can lead to big changes.

The journey is not always easy, but it is worth it. Let’s continue building a tech industry where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Dear Tanya(my younger sister),

I hope this letter finds you well. As we move deeper into the 21st century, the pace of technological advancement is faster than ever. We are witnessing a transformation in the way we live, work, and connect with one another. I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts on what we can expect in the near future and how these changes may affect our daily lives.

The Rise of AI in Everyday Life

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a futuristic concept—it is already here, assisting us in ways we may not even realize. From voice assistants like Alexa and Siri to AI-powered customer service chatbots, technology is becoming more intuitive and responsive. In the coming years, AI will play a bigger role in healthcare, helping doctors diagnose illnesses faster and more accurately. Even in our homes, smart appliances will continue to make life more convenient, from refrigerators that suggest recipes to washing machines that choose the best settings based on fabric type.

The Future of Work and Education

Remote work and online education have grown tremendously, especially in recent years. The future will likely bring even more flexibility, with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) creating immersive learning and working environments. Imagine attending a family gathering in a virtual space where we feel like we are together, despite being miles apart. As automation grows, certain jobs will change, but new opportunities will emerge—so continuous learning and adaptability will be key.

Self-driving cars and electric vehicles are set to become the norm, reducing traffic accidents and our carbon footprint.
