It's 10 PM. Tomorrow is your annual performance review. You're staring at a blank document, trying to remember what you accomplished this year.

"I definitely did something important in March... right?"

Sound familiar? You're not alone.

The Problem: We're Great at Coding, Terrible at Documenting

As engineers, we spend hours writing clean code, detailed commit messages, and thorough documentation for our projects. But when it comes to documenting our own achievements? Complete silence.

Here's what typically happens:

You ship an awesome feature → Feel good for 5 minutes → Move on to the next task

You fix a critical production bug at 2 AM → Forget about it by next week

You mentor a junior dev → Never think about it again
Then review season comes, and you're scrambling to remember 12 months of work in 2 hours.

Why This Matters More Than You Think

Your manager doesn't see everything you do. Neither does HR. That promotion you want? It goes to the person who can articulate their impact, not necessarily the one who had the most impact.

This isn't about bragging. It's about fair recognition for your work.

The Solution: Brag Documents

Julia Evans popularized the concept of a "Brag Document" — a running list of your accomplishments that you update regularly.

The idea is simple:

• Write down what you did when you do it

• Include context: the problem, your solution, the result

• Review it before performance reviews

Simple, right? But here's the catch: nobody actually does it consistently.

Why? Because after a long day of coding, the last thing you want to do is write about coding.

Making It Effortless

I faced this exact problem. So I built Bragment — a tool that makes capturing achievements as easy as jotting down a quick note.

Daily Recording Takes 10 Seconds

Just type what you did today. "Fixed payment API timeout" — done.

Want to capture something significant with more detail? You can add background context and results too. But for day-to-day wins, a quick note is all you need.

Weekly Review, Automatically

Every week, your fragments are summarized into a digest. Perfect for standups, 1:1s with your manager, or just reflecting on what you accomplished.

Brag Document, One Click Away

When review season comes, generate a structured Brag Document from all your accumulated fragments. No more scrambling to remember what you did.

Your scattered notes become a well-organized document, categorized by project and achievement type.

It's Free During Beta

No API key? No problem. You get 5 free AI generations to try it out — no setup required.

Want unlimited generations? Use BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) with your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Your data stays private, and there's no usage limit.

Beta users get BYOK access free forever, even after we launch paid plans.

Start Today

Don't wait until your next review to realize you can't remember what you did.

Try Bragment

Your future self (and your career) will thank you.

What's your strategy for tracking achievements? I'd love to hear in the comments!
