AWS Directory service provides multiple ways to use Microsoft Active Directory with other AWS services. Directories store information about users, groups and devices and administrators use them to manage access to information and resources. AWS Directory Service provides multiple directory choices for customers who want to use existing Microsoft AD or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol aware applications in the cloud. It also offers those same choices to developers who need a directory to manage users, groups, devices and access.

Managing Deletion and Recovery of EBS Volumes, Snapshots and AMIs with AWS Recycle Bin

Recycle bin makes it easy for ebs volume, snapshot and ami to handle deletion and recovery of it with retention rule. In terms of cost, the solution is cheaper and secure.”

Recycle Bin is a resource recovery feature that enables you to restore accidentally deleted EBS volumes, EBS snapshots and EBS-backed AMIs. When using recycle bin, if your resources are deleted, they are retained in the recycle bin for a time period that you specify.

You can restore a resource from the recycle bin at any time before its retention period expires. After you restore a resource from the recycle bin, the resource is removed from the recycle bin and you can then use it in the same way you use any other resource of that type in your account. If the retention period expires and the resource is not restored, the resource is permanently deleted from the recycle bin and is no longer available for recovery.

In this post, you will experience managing deletion and recovery of ebs volumes, snapshots and amis with aws recycle bin. Here I have created a retention rule in the recycle bin which tends to handle and store the deleted ebs volume, snapshot and ami and also recover it when required.

Open the Recycle Bin console, Create a retention rule. Give retention rule name with select resource type and resource to retain. Give retention period with select of rule lock setting. Once the retention rule is created, we can change the retention period and lock the retention rule.

Phase 2: Output of EBS Volume Deletion and Recover in Recycle Bin

EC2: ebs volume, ebs snapshot and recycle bin: retention rule.

Open the AWS AppFabric console. Click on getting started. Create an app bundle with AWS owned key. In the next step, create app authorization with application as chosen “slack” and give tenant id, tenant name, client id and client secret. In slack, authorization of apps require redirect url setup and enable org-readiness. Once the status of authorization is green we can further add the ingestion to select destination with schema & format required.

Unlocking the Power of HTTP APIs in Amazon API Gateway with AWS Lambda Integration

Phase 1: Create of Lambda Function in AWS Lambda

Open the AWS Lambda console, create a function “test-function” with default parameters. Once the function is created, further we can test it with a run of event.

Phase 2: Create HTTP API in Amazon API Gateway

Open the API Gateway console, create an HTTP API. Click on build option, you can see the configure api page. Fill the api name and select the integration as lambda function which is created above. Leave other options as default and create a http api. Open the api and you can see the invoke url which you can keep on the browser and run it with having lambda input as response on browser.

In the route tab, create a route as GET with “/test-function”. And further do the integration of it with lambda function. You can find the invoke url in stage tab as well.

Phase 3: Output of User Request from API Gateway to Lambda

We can further add the user or group based on the subscription plan. Once the setup completes, we can login to kiro using sign in url with IAM identity center user.

Phase 2: Free Plan Subscription in kiro.dev Site

Goto kiro.dev. Next signin using google, github and aws builder id. Then download and install kiro. Then the account should start on the free plan automatically.

Feature Enhancement for Local Zone Subnets in AWS Global View

In this post, you will experience the feature enhancement for local zone subnets in aws global view. Here I have opted-in the local zone in aws global view and created a local zone subnet. Also created an ec2 instance in the local zone subnet.

Geolocation Observability in Amazon Detective

Open the Amazon detective console, click on the get started. First check the attach policy from IAM and enable the detective for the same account with adding tags on it. Once the detective is enabled, we can view the status in the account management tab. We can add the members account in it via invite send option and using aws organizations. We can integrate it with security lake service. We can see the table length, timestamp preferences and group summary under preferences tab. We can see the further usage for member accounts on usage tab.

In the search tab, we can view the findings for the appropriate selected type.

Phase 2: Output of Detective Geolocation

Deep Dive into Amazon Security Lake for a Specific Account Across All Regions

Amazon Security Lake is a fully managed security data lake service. You can use security lake to automatically centralize security data from AWS environments, SaaS providers, on premises, cloud sources and third-party sources into a purpose built data lake that’s stored in your AWS account. It is backed by Amazon Simple Storage Service buckets, meaning you retain ownership of the data you collect. Security Lake simplifies collecting security data and gathering insights from it. This supports a wide range of use cases with the ultimate goal of improving the protection of your workloads, applications and data.

In this post, you will experience the deep dive into amazon security lake for a specific account across all regions. Here I have an aws organization with a delegated administrator for security lake. And in the member account, I have enabled and set up the security lake for management account logs trace and also the billing of member account is managed by management account itself.

Open the AWS Organizations console in the management account, click on add an aws account option and send the invitation to the member account. Goto member account and accept the invitation in aws organization service. Once the invitation is accepted, you can see the member account in aws organization of management account. Now in management account, enable the security lake under security lake aws service and provide member account number under delegate administrator.

Phase 2: Enable and SetUp of Amazon Security Lake for Specific AWS Account for All Supported Regions in Member Account

Phase 3: Run of Queries in Amazon Athena and Output of S3 Bucket with CloudWatch Logs

Deep Dive into Default and Custom AWS Security Groups

It operates at the instance level rather than the subnet level, allowing only permitted traffic, and is stateful, meaning return traffic is automatically allowed.

Phase 1: Creation of Agent Space in AWS DevOps Agent

Open the AWS DevOps Agent console, goto agent spaces option. Create agent space with required name and leave other options as default with select of auto-create iam role for agent space and web app. Once the agent space is created, we can do web app link access via operator access option.

Phase 2: Creation of Resources as EC2 Instance, CPU Alarm, Security Group and Key Pair Using CloudFormation Stack

Phase 3: Output as CloudWatch Alarm CPU Utilization

Clean-up
