Week 5 in task force at Awesomity & Code Of Africa

Greetings my once again beautiful people🥰

Time flies very quickly, it is already week five and it only feels like week 2 or 3 in my mind. Well, That's because of the work we had to do for the last five weeks, which doesn't make us see time fling.

Week five had a lot of technical stuff going on, regarding the app we are working on as I described it in my last posts. Mainly week five tasks were composed of: first applying all the feedback from last week's demo, adding a security level of the app, testing and documenting all the app, and logging the app. So as you may think of, it was a lot of things to do, and which also involved learning new things because most of us were new to these concepts, which made it fun and interesting and at some time.

As you are now used to it, the weekend with a Friday demo of the work of the week, and from there, we receive feedback, which was also a great one because we hard implemented most of the thing.

In a few words that's how my week looked like and still looking forward to entering week six which is the last week in taskforce Bootcamp.

Week four in Taskforce 4 at Awesomity and Code of Africa

Hello my good people😊

Where to start from? I really don't know where to start from, because the last wasn't easy at all. But to start with let me tell you that I was an interesting week, and demanding one😪.

Our task the last work was to create all business logic for Show App and having all the end points up and running, and as if that was not enough we also had to learn a new frame work nestjs as it was the one we were going to use creating the end points. We had to work day and night to be able to learn the frame and as well deliver the end point. As you can understand it not something easy to do, but guess what we did it 🤩🤩.

We also had other two interesting soft skills sessions one on stress management which I think was really needed considering the week we were in 😂😂. An other one was with Joseph about Agile communication where we learned a lot about agile process and the it help in project success.

As you are used to it now, We ended our week with a presentation or a demo of what we did throughout the week meaning the endpoints, and Every one was impressed by our work 👌😎

Yeah, that's how my last week looked like and I am forward to what see what week 5 bring with it💪🏿. see you then.

Week three experience in task force 4 at Awesomity and CodeofAfrica

Greeting again my good people✌🏿!

This has been my third week at #awesomity and #codeofafrica as part of task force 4. And the week was an interesting one, where we had a lot of things to do as I am going to describe below.

The week's activities were divided into two categories as always: soft skills and technical skills.

Soft skills

In soft skills, we had two main sessions: team culture session and the communication session.

Team culture.

During the team culture session we discussed what team culture is and the importance of having a common culture as a team, and ways to build a strong team culture. We ended the session with an interesting exercise where we were asked to find what is the team culture at #codeofafrica.

Communication

During the communication session, we learned the importance of communication in a team, and what is the most efficient way to communicate in a team.

Technical Skills

During the part, we focused on two main subjects: code review and Brainstorming on the show app.

Code review

In this session, we focused on how to review codes on our team and how to give feedback on a code review we reviewed.

Brainstorming

In this session, we had to brainstorm on how the show app will be working, where we took one use case and tried to come up with endpoints needed and the type of data we would need. And we ended the session by designing the ERD for the app.

The week ended with a group presentation of the ERD diagram we came up with as a team and received feedback.

Week two Experience in task force 4 at Awesomity and Code of a africa

Hey my good people,

As I promised in my previous post, today I will be also sharing with you how my second week at #awesomity && #codeofafrica has been.
To start with, I would say it was a very informative and demanding week in which I learned a lot(as always😍).

I would categorize skills gained into two categories, soft skills and technical skills. And let's talk about those skills starting with technical skills and I will end soft skills.

Technical skills.

During the second we had an interesting discussion around software development and best practices with our one and only Yannick (CTO at #awesomity), where we talked about some interesting topics bellow.

Git workflow

We looked at how and why a team working on one same project, should use git as tool to help them keep track of every single changes made and different versions of codes they have. We went farther by discussing what are the best practices while working with git.

CI/CD

CI/CD for those who don't know stands for Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment. It is a method to frequently deliver apps to customers by introducing automation into the stages of app development. for the seek of time you can read more about it here

DevOps

DevOps is an emerging technology that is introduced in agile development that helps a team working on a project to delivery a good and quality software. I would recommend reading more about the topic its an interesting topic to know.

Soft Skills

We also had some interesting discussion around Values and the importance to have them as a person and as well as team, we also talked about Critical Thinking which was a really an interesting topic where we learned a lot on how to approach a problem while trying to come up with a solution for it.

As last week ended our week with a 5 min presentation about what we learned the whole week, expect that this time round it was a personal presentation.

First week in task force 4 at Awesomity Lab and Code of Africa.

My first week was a week of learning new things and new experiences. It all started with an interesting game we played in two different teams. The may purpose of the game was to teach us the importance of teamwork, and how a team should collaborate towards achieving some goals. later on come another interesting session which I can call a self-discovery session, where I did a personality test to find my personality, and the result was amazing, even seeing people of a high profile who share the same personality was awesome.

During the week we also had two amazing sessions with Lionel (CEO at #awesomotylab) about creating good and efficient user stories while working on a project, my main takeaway from this was that the best way to write good user stories is to write them in a user perspective. He also introduced us to SHOW APP which is the app we will be working on during the Bootcamp and we proceeded by creating user stories for it as a team, and it was a mind-blowing experience.

Intercultural communication was also something we were introduced to by Anja(from #codeofafrica) which helped us understand well how to collaborate with others while working in a distributed team having people from different cultures.

We ended the week by being introduced to the whole #awesomitylab team followed by an amazing game in which were beaten by the #awesomity team only because they were the ones who come up with the game.

In a few words, my first week was at #awesomitylab and #codeofafrica was awesome, I am looking followed to the second week brings.
