From Hip-Hop Head to iOS Dev: My Journey

👤 Who I Am

I’m 권태우 — but you can call me Képler.

I used to write bars and cut footage with flair,

now I’m coding with rhythm, breathing logic into air.

From UIKit to SwiftUI, I’ve been learning by buildin’,

chasing clean design like the way I chase rhythm.

I believe good code flows like music —

clean, intentional, and always got a use in it.

🛠️ My Development Journey

I didn’t study iOS development in class — my school didn’t offer it.

But I knew I wanted to build real things people could touch and use.

I started with UIKit, learning the basics by following tutorials and breaking things a hundred times over.

Later, I tried SwiftUI to see how modern declarative UI worked. It felt like starting over, but it made me think about code differently — more structured, more focused.

Along the way, I built small apps, games, even a group-ordering app that won a school competition.

Each project wasn’t perfect, but every one taught me something new — about building, debugging, presenting, and most of all, about being patient.

💼 Featured Projects

🎧 No HyunIl without U — School Promotion Track (2016)

A rap track and music video created as part of a high school project — but it turned into something bigger.

I wrote the lyrics, rapped, directed the video, and rallied classmates to make it happen.

It was later used as an official school promo during orientation events.

→ Creative direction, lyrics, coordination, performance

 🎮 trYangle — Paper-based Strategy Game (2017)

A game invented during night study hours.

You draw lines to complete triangles — simple rules, lots of strategy.

We patched and balanced it through actual playtests, and the name? That was mine.

→ Game rules, balancing, naming

 🃏 MEMORY..JIK — SwiftUI Memory Game (2021)

My first-ever SwiftUI app — a basic card-matching game.

It helped me learn about state, animation, and declarative UI structure.

I used my favorite streamer’s photos as placeholder art.

→ SwiftUI, MVVM, animation, self-study

 📍 BBGG — Travel Diary App (2023)

Graduation project: a diary app that tracks visited regions across Korea and recommends local highlights.

We struggled with backend issues and settled on a local DB — but I pushed through to finish the core experience.

→ iOS dev, local DB, teamwork challenges

 🍽 Nppang — Group Delivery App (2022)

An app for students living in dorms to share delivery orders and save on fees.

I built the iOS app from scratch, shot and edited the demo video, and we won a Gold Prize in a school-wide competition.

→ Solo dev, Swift, UI design, video production

👉 Full portfolio on Notion

🚀 What’s Next

I’m still learning, still building.

My next step is to ship my first iOS app to the App Store — fully polished, with clean design and clean code.

I also plan to write more here on dev.to, sharing my wins, bugs, and probably a few facepalm moments along the way.

If you’re into Swift, music, or creative builds with soul, I’d love to connect.
