      <description>&lt;p&gt;Introduction of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination has been slow in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) because of resource constraints and worldwide shortage of vaccine supplies. To help inform WHO recommendations, we modelled various HPV vaccination strategies to examine the optimal use of limited vaccine supplies and best allocation of scarce resources in LMICs in the context of the WHO global call to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In this mathematical modelling analysis, we developed HPV-ADVISE LMIC, a transmission-dynamic model of HPV infection and diseases calibrated to four LMICs India, Vietnam, Uganda, and Nigeria. For different vaccination strategies that encompassed use of a nine-valent vaccine (or a two-valent or four-valent vaccine assuming high cross-protection), we estimated three outcomes reduction in the age-standardised rate of cervical cancer, number of doses needed to prevent one case of cervical cancer (NNV; as a measure of efficiency), and the incs of the abstract see Supplementary Materials section. &lt;br&gt;

All clinical pregnancies after a single blastocyst transfer between January 2014 and February 2020 were included. Blastocyst morphology was evaluated based on the Gardner grading system, considering the blastocyst stage, and inner cell mass and trophectoderm grading (grades A, B, and C). Monozygotic twinning was defined as ≥2 fetal heartbeats in a single gestati cell mass and grade B or C trophectoderm (0.82%, as the reference) and the highest in blastocysts with grade B or C inner cell mass and grade A trophectoderm (2.40%; adjusted relative risk, 2.62; 95% confidence interval, 1.60-4.43). The incidence of monozygotic twinning in blastocysts with consistent inner cell mass or trophectoderm grading was somewhere in between (both A 1.58%; adjusted relative risk, 1.86 [95% confidence interval, 1.23-3.04]; both B or C 1.59%; adjusted relative risk, 1.84 [95% confidence interval, 1.29-2.90]). &lt;/p&gt;

 The onset of the term human parturition involves myometrial gene expression changes to transform the uterus from a quiescent to a contractile phenotype. It is uncertain whether the same changes occur in the uterus during preterm labor. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This study aimed to compare the myometrial gene expression between term and preterm labor and to determine whether the presence of acute clinical chorioamnionitis or twin gestation affects these signatures. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Myometrial specimens were collected during cesarean delivery from the following 7 different groups of patients term not in labor (n=31), term labor (n=13), preterm not in labor (n=21), preterm labor with acute clinical chorioamnionitis (n=6), preterm labor with no acute clinical chorioamnionitis (n=9), twin preterm not in labor (n=8), and twin preterm labor with no acute clinical chorioamnionitis (n=5).       <description>&lt;p&gt;Mechanobiology at the cellular level is concerned with what phenotypes that cells exhibit to maintain homeostasis in their normal physiological mechanical environment, as well as what phenotypical changes that cells have to make when their environment is altered. Mechanobiology at the molecular level aims to understand the molecular underpinning of how cells sense, respond to, and adapt to mechanical cues in their environment. In this Perspective, we use our work inspired by and in collaboration with Professor Shu Chien as an example with which we connect the mechanobiology between the cellular and molecular levels. We discuss how physical forces acting on intracellular proteins may impact protein-protein interaction, change protein conformation, crosstalk with biochemical signaling molecules, induce mechanotransduction, and alter the cell structure and function. © Author(s).Background Anxiety disorders are the most common neuropathologies worldwide, but the precise neuronal mechanisms that underlie these disorders remain unknown. The hippocampus plays a role in mediating anxiety-related responses, which can be modeled in rodents using behavioral assays, such as the elevated plus maze. Yet, the molecular markers that underlie affect-related behavior on the elevated plus maze are not well understood. Methods We used herpes simplex virus vector delivery to overexpress extracellular signal-regulated kinase-2, a signaling molecule known to be involved in depression and anxiety, within the dorsal hippocampus of adult Sprague-Dawley male rats. Three days post virus delivery, we assessed anxiety-like responses on the elevated plus maze or general locomotor activity on the open field test. Results When compared to controls, rats overexpressing extracellular signal-regulated kinase-2 in the dorsal hippocampus displayed an anxiolytic-like phenotype, per increases in time spent in the open arms, and less time in the closed arms, of the elevated plus maze. Furthermore, no changes in locomotor activity as a function of virus infusion were observed on the open field test between the experimental groups. Rigosertib Conclusion This investigation demonstrates that virus-mediated increases of extracellular signal-regulated kinase-2 signaling, within the hippocampus, plays a critical role in decreasing anxiogenic responses on the rat elevated plus maze. So far, device fabrication efforts have largely relied on shaping such devices by laser cutting, but this process makes it difficult to produce complex electrode architectures and leads to ill-defined surface chemistries. Here, we report mechanically adaptive, physiologically responsive polymers that can be photopolymerized and thus patterned via soft lithography and photolithography. The adaptive polymer networks produced exhibit, in optimized compositions, a ca. 500-fold decrease of their storage modulus when exposed to simulated physiological conditions, for example, from 2.5 GPa to 5 MPa. This effect is caused by modest swelling (30% w/w), which in turn leads to plasticization so that the polymer network's glass transition temperature is reduced from 145 to 25 °C. The polymer networks can further be rendered pH-responsive by the incorporation of methacrylic acid. The dual stimuli-responsive materials thus made show promise as coatings or substrates for drug delivery devices. Copyright © 2020 American Chemical Society.A series of aliphatic copolyesters, poly(butylene adipate-co-butylene itaconate) (PBABI), have been synthesized using melt polycondensation of adipic acid (AA), itaconic acid (IA), 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BDO), and the tetra-functional group of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA, 0.1 mol %) to form partially cross-linking density as novel thermoplastic unsaturated copolyesters in our previous research. The crystal phase of PBABI copolyesters tended to prefer thermodynamics in the presence of a small amount of EDTA. The isothermal crystallization analysis revealed that the PBABI with EDTA exhibited a higher crystallization rate and a shorter half-time of crystallization than neat PBABI copolyesters. All of the sizes of spherulite/sheet crystals in the BA/BI = 9/1 are smaller than at BA/BI = 10/0 with or without a cross-linking agent, which demonstrated that the morphology behavior tended to form a small sheet crystal in the presence of 10 mol % IA, which played a dominant role in determining the average size of the crystal. These results deepen our understanding of the relationship among the cross-linking agent, the crystal form, and solidification time in PBABI copolyesters, making these kinds of polymers applicable to reinforce three-dimensional (3D) air-permeable polyester-based smart textiles. Copyright © 2020 American Chemical Society.In this study, the electrochemical breakdown potentials (E b) of NiTi stents were assessed in correlation to their nonmetallic inclusion fractions in the extra low inclusion (ELI) range (inclu.% less then 1% in area fraction, average size less then 39 μm). Quantitative investigations were performed to study the role of nonmetallic inclusions during pitting corrosion. Two stent samples with different inclusion fractions were fabricated using commercial NiTi tubes for studying the corrosion and mechanism. A survey of seven commercial stents in Europe was also conducted. Dependence was observed between the breakdown potentials and the inclusion fractions in the ELI stent (inclu.% = 0.2-0.8%), in which the breakdown potentials were found to be inversely proportional to inclusion fractions and densities (E b dropped from ∼800 to ∼400 mV). No breakdown occurred on the samples using high-purity NiTi materials (inclu.% less then 0.1%). Identifying patients whose serum lactate levels are more likely to increase can alert physicians to intensify care and guide them in the frequency of tending the blood test. We investigate whether machine learning models can predict subsequent serum lactate changes. We investigated serum lactate change prediction using the MIMIC-III and eICU-CRD datasets in internal as well as external validation of the eICU cohort on the MIMIC-III cohort. Three subgroups were defined based on the initial lactate levels (i) normal group ( 10% and furthermore investigated the influence of the time interval between subsequent lactate measurements on predictive performance. The LSTM models were able to predict deterioration of serum lactate values of MIMIC-III patients with an AUC of 0.77 (95% CI 0.762-0.771) for the normal group, 0.77 (95% CI 0.768-0.772) for the mild group, and 0.85 (95% CI 0.840-0.851) for the severe group, with only a slightly lower performance in the external validation. The LSTM demonstrated good discrimination of patients who had deterioration in serum lactate levels. Clinical studies are needed to evaluate whether utilization of a clinical decision support tool based on these results could positively impact decision-making and patient outcomes.Nogo proteins, also known as Reticulon-4, have been identified as myelin-derived inhibitors of neurite outgrowth in the central nervous system (CNS). There are three Nogo variants, Nogo-A, Nogo-B and Nogo-C. Recent studies have shown that Nogo-A/B is abundant in macrophages and may have a wider effect on inflammation. In this review, we focus mainly on the possible roles of Nogo-A/B on polarization and recruitment of macrophages and their involvement in a variety of inflammatory diseases. We then discuss the Nogo receptor1 (NgR1), a common receptor for Nogo proteins that is also abundant in microglia/macrophage in the CNS. Interaction of Nogo and NgR1 in microglia/macrophage may affect the adhesion and polarization of macrophages that are involved in multiple neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. Overall, this review provides insights into the roles of Nogo proteins in regulating macrophage functions and suggests that, potentially, Nogo proteins maybe a new target in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. &lt;br&gt;
 Conventional coronary angiography (CAG) is currently the gold standard technique for the assessment of coronary arteries prior to cardiac valve surgery. Triptolide Although CAG is a relatively safe procedure, however, it is still an invasive procedure, and it has potential hazards and complications. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a non-invasive technique that has emerged robustly as an excellent and attractive tool for delineating coronary anatomy. Therefore, we sought to evaluate the accuracy of CCTA when compared with the gold standard CAG in the evaluation of coronary arteries before valve surgery. We screened 111 consecutive patients with VHD undergoing a routine cardiac catheterization for preoperative evaluation of CAD. Fifty patients were eligible and underwent both CAG and CCTA. Significant coronary stenosis was defined as a luminal diameter decrease of ≥ 50%. Additionally, ectasia, calcifications, and congenital coronary anomalies were analyzed. Also, we compared both techniques regarding tal anomalies was diagnosed better with CCTA than CAG. &lt;/p&gt;

The present study was designed to perform vaccine matching for field FMD virus isolates from clinically diseased cattle and assess the antigenic properties of the field isolates against the current vaccine strains used for vaccine production at the National Veterinary Institute, Ethiopia. Both sequencing and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reactions were used for distinguishing between the viral strains. To evaluate the serological relationship of the vaccine strain with these field isolates (r1 value), in vitro cross-neutralization was performed using ETH/6/2000 and ETH/38/2005 antisera. Infectious field FMD viral samples represented serotypes A and O. Sequence analysis showed that serotype A VP1/1D possessed amino acid variability at positions 28 and 42 to 48, 138, 141, 142, 148, 156, 173, and 197 compared with the ETH/6/2000 vaccine strain, whereas serotype O possessed amino acid variability at positions 45, 48, 138, 139, 140, 141, and 197 compared with the ETH/38/2005 vaccine strain. Based on the one-dimensional virus neutralization test, serotypes A and O demonstrated antigenic matching of up to 13/17 (76.47%) with the vaccine strain, except for the isolates ETH/40/2018, ETH/48/2018, ETH/55/2018, and ETH/61/2018, which had r-values less than 0.3. Therefore, the currently used vaccine strains ETH/38/2005 for serotype O and ETH/6/2000 for serotype A protected against all and most field viruses characterized as serotypes O and A, respectively, and amino acid residue variation was observed in different FMD virus B-C loops, G-H loops, and C-termini of VP1 at sites 1 and 3 in both serotypes.The present article aims to investigate the mechanical properties of a new DNA origami nano-joint using the steered molecular dynamics (SMD) simulation. Since the analysis of mechanical properties is of great importance in bending conditions for a nano-joint, the forces are selected to achieve angular changes in the joint by the resultant torque. In this study, the nano-joint is considered as a beam in order to use mechanical equations to extract the mechanical properties of the designed nano-joint. In addition, the bending stiffness of the beam is investigated in different modes of deflection using the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The results revealed that the value of bending stiffness increases with increasing deflection, and the changes in the bending stiffness relative to the deflection is linear.       <description>&lt;p&gt;Second, pretreatment with TQ significantly reduced the markers of myocardial oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis. Third, TQ acted as an autophagy enhancer ameliorating myocardial cell damage and dysfunction. Thus, the morphological and biochemical changes associated with ISO-induced myocardial injury were ameliorated with TQ pretreatment. The extent of this improvement was significantly greater in the TQ50 + ISO group than in the TQ20 + ISO group. The present study, for the first time, demonstrates these dose-dependent effects of TQ in experimentally induced myocardial injury. These findings raise the possibility that TQ may serve as a promising prophylactic cardioprotective therapy for patients who are at risk of developing myocardial injury and against the progression of existent myocardial injury as in cases of MI.Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of cardiac rhythm disturbance. At the cellular level, excessive ROS generation during AF is associated with ER stress, which induces an inflammatory response by activating the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway and the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) signaling pathway. Activation of the NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome has been linked to the pathogenesis of AF through NF-kB activation and inflammatory cytokine secretion. It has been shown that NLRP3 inflammasome activation by endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is dependent on NF-kB activation. The anti-inflammatory role of resolvin D1 (RvD1), a pro-resolving mediator derived from omega-3 fatty acids, has demonstrated that the NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome pathway in different tissues is attenuated after treatment with RvD1. However, the mechanism of the anti-inflammatory activity of RvD1 in AF has not been clarified. This review suggests that RvD1 may inhibit ER stress-induced NLRP3 inflammasome through suppressing NF-κB in cardiac tissue and, thus ameliorate AF. &lt;br&gt;
 Osteosynthetic treatment strategies of PHFs include MIPO or ORIF techniques. The aim of this study was to compare the 1year outcome following either technique in type B PHFs. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This study was designed as a retrospective cohort study of patients treated at one academic Level 1 trauma center. Patients from 2009 to 2019 who required surgical treatment of a type B PHF were eligible to be included in this study. Patients with A- or C-type fractures or patients requiring arthroplasty were excluded. All patients were treated with Proximal Humerus Interlocking System (PHILOS) and stratified according the approach into Group MIPO or Group ORIF. Outcome measures include local complications that occurred during hospitalization, nonunion after 12months, and range of motion after 1year follow-up. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This study included 149 (75.3%) patients in Group ORIF, and 49 (24.7%) in Group MIPO. The fracture morphology and concomitant injuries were comparable amongst these groups. When compared with Group MIPO, Group ORIF had a 2.6 (95% CI 0.6-11.7) higher risk of suffering from local complications. The rate of postoperative nerve lesions was comparable (OR 0.9, 95% CI 0.1-9.7) as was the rate of soft tissue complications (OR 2.0, 95% CI 0.2-17.2). The risk for nonunion was 4.5 times higher (95% 1.1-19.5) in Group ORIF when compared with Group MIPO. Group MIPO had a higher chance of flexion above 90° (OR 8.2, 95% CI 2.5-27.7). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This study provides indications that patients following surgical treatment of PHFs in MIPO technique might have favourable outcome. Large-scale and high-quality studies are warranted to confirm these results. &lt;br&gt;

 Primary acute intestinal ischaemia (AII) is an abdominal catastrophe caused by intravascular obstruction of blood supply. It is difficult to diagnose. Computerized tomography (CT) scan is the modality of choice for diagnostic evaluation. Majority of previous studies have evaluated CT findings in patients where AII was suspected. However, unveiling the unique radiological findings also in not initially suspected AII patients, might lead to the timely management of AII patients, and is the aim of this study. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In a single-center, retrospective case-control study, preoperative radiological findings from abdominal CT scans in 48 patients with primary AII were compared with 80 non-ischemic controls. Radiological findings were analyzed using multivariable logistical regression with adjustment for age and gender and reported as odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and p values. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Thirty-nine (81%) cases with AII were referred to an abdominal CT scan without a specific clinical suspicion of AII. Three main radiological categories (intestinal wall pathology [OR 7.4, CI 2.3-24.0, p value &amp;lt; 0.001], gastrointestinal vessel pathology [OR 19.3, CI 4.6-80.5, p value &amp;lt; 0.001) and intestinal diameter [OR 4.7, CI 1.6-13.4, p value 0.004]) were significantly different in AII patients. Subgroup analysis implied that pneumatosis intestinalis, increased contrast enhancement in the bowel wall, inferior mesenteric artery arteriosclerosis and colonic contraction were predictors of AII. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Radiological changes within the intestinal wall, luminal diameter and gastrointestinal vessels are independent predictors of AII. Awareness of these radiological findings, therefore, plays a central role in patients with an indistinct clinical picture in early recognition and treatment of a life-threatening AII. &lt;/p&gt;
