&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;S&lt;/strong&gt;ecure &lt;strong&gt;H&lt;/strong&gt;ashing &lt;strong&gt;A&lt;/strong&gt;lgorithm 256 uses 8 32 bit hash values derived from the square roots of the first 8 primes. It produces 512 bit blocks which are then smashed back into the 8 32 bit words, which combine to create the 256 bit hash.&lt;/p&gt;
