We’ve launched a new developer community, Caiz.dev. It’s still in alpha, but we’re improving it and adding features every day.

Here, we’ll introduce Caiz.dev’s key features and the world it aims to create.

 Key features

Caiz.dev has the following characteristics:

AI features

Multi-community

Notifications

Open source

 AI features

Caiz.dev enhances many capabilities with AI. Currently, it offers:

AI moderation
AI moderates posted content. We use OpenAI’s Moderation API.

AI summaries
When a thread grows, AI generates summaries. Powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash.

Multilingual translation
Content within Caiz.dev is expanded into 20 languages. This also uses Gemini 2.5 Flash.

MCP server
You can search within the communities you belong to. With tools like Claude Desktop, you can converse with Caiz.dev.

 Multi-community

With a single account, you can join multiple communities on Caiz.dev. Each community can define its own participation rules, enabling flexible operations.

 Notifications

If you already run communities elsewhere, notifications to those places are convenient. When someone new posts, you can notify Slack, Discord, and X (planned).

 Open source

Caiz.dev is based on NodeBB, and the code is open source. Required features are implemented via NodeBB plugins and themes, and we leave the core untouched.

goofmint/caiz

 The world Caiz.dev aims for

While Slack and Discord are mainstream for developer communities, there are several challenges:

Closed environments
Information is hard to share externally, making knowledge accumulation difficult.

Account management overhead
On Slack, you need a separate account per workspace. Password management becomes cumbersome.

Feature limitations on free plans
Communities often run on Slack’s free plan, but older messages disappear after a few months, preventing knowledge from accumulating.

Limits of SaaS
SaaS services can be shut down at the provider’s discretion. Exporting data is also often difficult.

With Caiz.dev, communities are built in an open environment (searchable on the web), making it easy to accumulate knowledge and to be discovered from outside. This also helps communities get found and grow.

Like Discord, Caiz.dev lets you join multiple communities with a single account, simplifying account management. You can join each community with one click (after confirming the rules), lowering the barrier to participation. No invite URLs or similar hassles.

Communicate with the world, in your own language

Caiz.dev supports 20 languages using Gemini 2.5 Flash. By translating into the 20 most widely spoken languages, you can converse with over 80% of people worldwide.

English speakers, Japanese speakers, Chinese speakers, and more can all talk together in mixed threads. We aim for a world where everyone communicates in their own language.

 Upcoming features

Caiz.dev is still in alpha, but we plan to add the following features:

Webhooks

Bots

Incoming webhooks

Notifications to X

Slash commands

Private communities

Private threads

Anyone is free to create a community. Start a new developer community on Caiz.dev.

Caiz.dev
