Cool APIs you might not know about 😎

Here are some cool APIs you might not know about. They are all free to use for no comercial projects.

THE MEAL DB

Have you ever wanted to make a recipe book app? This is the best choice you can find. It gives you images, diferent searching filters and any kind of meal you can imagine. The same people also have a Sports API, a Cocktail API and a Audio (music) API, they're also pretty cool.

https://www.themealdb.com/api.php

The COVID19 API

This API gives you all the information you need about this pandemic. It gives you global information, but if you only want to check how your country is doing, you can also do that easily. This API is really useful, not only to practice your coding in a fun way, also to be aware of how this pandemic is affecting the whole world.

https://covid19api.com/

The GIPHY API

I do not know why this API is not more popular. From probably the biggest GIF website, they give you access to all the gifs you want, their creator and much more. You can pick between API and SDK in this one, the SDK gives you more data.

https://developers.giphy.com/docs/api

The Cocktail DB

As I mentioned before, it is developed and mantained by the same people as the Meal DB. It gives you all the data you can think of about cocktails. Really easy to use as well.

https://www.thecocktaildb.com/api.php

Hope you find this helpful.

I've mastered Godot, here is my opinion:

Godot is an open-source game engine.

First of all, Godot for 3D isn't the best engine you can use, if you only want to make small 3D games, you'll probably be fine. However, Godot for 2d is (in my opinion) REALLY good.

·The scene and node system it has is really smart and easy to use.

·If you are a python dev and you can't find a really good game engine to make 2d games, this is what you need. Godot originally uses GDScript (even though you can use C# as well) and GDScript is really similar to python.

·If you use Godot you will become part of a huge and friendly open-source community.

·Lots of people say that Godot's community is not as strong as unity's or unreal's, making it more difficult to find answers for your doubts, which is in some part true.

·With 3 months or less of practising godot and it's tools, I've been able to land my first freelance job in Upwork, and that is a prove that Godot's community's is growing.

In conclusion, I think Godot is a really good engine for 2d games, has a fast-growing community, and is perfectly able to give you the chance to make beautiful games.

I've tried firebase, here is my opinion:

First I got this youtube recommendation of firebase, since I'm way better at frontend than backend, I do not know how to use SQL or anything like that, so firebase would help me to create a quick and simple database.

So after a day after using firebase I could quickly save data in my real time database. And after a week I had the skill to make a chatting app. So that is why I love firebase, you do not need to be a god to use it (plus, it is quickly to set up and pick up).
