I learnt a new skill called patience.😑

The ML model that I'm training is using LightGBM but needs a lot of feature engineering and tuning to get any real use out of it. So it's been an uphill battle. 🥲🥲🥲

I'm using F1 Macro as an evaluation metric. And since we can't use deep learning models or GPUs, the model building takes a lot of time. 😭

My current model took about 1hr 36mins to finish. How do ML Engineers have such patience. 🫠🫠🫠

Anyways I've applied for a few jobs in between all the waiting time.

Today I applied to a kaggle competition, it's actually a college project. Training a ML model.

Some fields are categorical but the data set is large, above 100K. I choose to see who'll do better - XGBoost, LGBM or CatBoost.

XGBoot lost immediately, I used F1 Macro as my evaluation an I got 0.70.

In LGBM it reached till 0.73 but I'll need to fine tune it since in leaders it only got till 0.67.

Now I'm doing CatBoost and it's taking too much time. 🥲

I've decided to go through a few cloud courses. I knew most basic stuff, so I getting a skill badge for AWS will be good I suppose.

Not much to update on other than that.

It's a late post

I didn't do much today, I mostly spent it in looking into various certifications that'll prove I have hands-on knowledge but after looking into them I feel like most are just create ways to get extra cash 🫠🫠

It's like an odd way forbig name companies to promote their products, which I won't deny are good, but they get to monetize how people actually understand their product.

Sure there's a voucher or something to get a free certificate once in a while but all around it feels pretty useless.

I'm not certain if employees can attempt the exams for free due to company mandates but for a fresher it's better to simply skip the exam and get the badges from reputable names like microsoft or Google.

Today I did microsoft's coure on Microsoft Defender for Cloud, it was interesting but I didn't have the patience to read line by line. 😶‍🌫️

So I simply put them in ChatGPT and made it to explain in brief. I cross questioned it whenever I didn't understand something but sometimes I skipped few cause it went over my head. 😅

All in all it was good, I'll probably do another one soon for cloud but that's all.

Anyways, today I applied for a few jobs as always.

Then went attended my exam and relaxed, I found a few interesting uses on AI and looked into a little bit on node. Not much just surface level stuff.

Looked into new AI tools available in market.
Most seem to be doing sorta fine but other than the big name ones like claude, chatgpt etc, rest seem to still be finding proper grounds.

Thought about creating a new project using MongoDB and MERN stack, a coding practice tool. I'm still debating on how to deploy it. 🫠

Applied to few more jobs, one job site was in default Japanese for some reason but I found the language settings so it was fine.

Day 1 Attended a Workshop on MongoDB offered by my online course. It was informative, maybe I'll look into it more on my own too! I already know MySQL, it'll be good to try out a NoSQL just ine case. 😉 Apllied for a few jobs and that's about it.
