CoreCommerce – A lightweight, blazing-fast e-commerce framework built on pure modern PHP

Hey dev community!

Lately, it feels like modern e-commerce development has turned into a competition of whose Docker container can chew through more RAM. Heavy frameworks require separate high-end servers just to boot up, and monolithic systems get sluggish when handling tens of thousands of products due to endless N+1 database queries.

I wanted to get back to the basics but with a modern architectural mindset. So, I built CoreCommerce (v1.0.0) — a fresh open-source e-commerce framework written in pure, modern PHP.

 🛠️ Tech Stack & Requirements

PHP 8.1+ (Highly recommended PHP 8.3 for peak performance)

MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.5+

mod_rewrite (Apache) or URL rewriting (Nginx)

⚡ Why pure PHP instead of Laravel/Symfony or Magento?

Zero framework overhead: Pages and API responses load in milliseconds out of the box, ensuring a perfect Green Zone in Google Lighthouse.

No bloatware: Zero heavy external dependencies that you don't actually need but are constantly forced to update due to security vulnerabilities.

Decoupled Architecture: The core is highly modular. It features a robust plugin system, allowing you to heavily customize business logic for clients without breaking core updates.

Low barrier to entry: Any mid-level (or even a sharp junior) developer can wrap their head around the core architecture in an evening or two.

 📦 What’s inside v1.0.0?

A fully ready, fast, and responsive Admin Dashboard.

Catalog, shopping cart, flexible order statuses, and product attributes system.

Clean REST API out of the box (can be used as a Headless platform).

Plugin architecture (the foundation for our future marketplace).

 🚀 Monetization & Future Plans

The core will always remain Open Source. Our future monetization model is a paid plugin marketplace (complex CRM integrations, marketing builders, advanced analytics), where third-party developers will also be able to sell their modules and earn with us. Right now, we are building the first batch of essential plugins.

 👋 Looking for your feedback!

We want to build a tool that developers actually enjoy using. I’d love to get your thoughts on the core architecture, code organization, and overall approach. What would you change? Would a stack like this fit your client projects where speed and performance are critical?

💻 GitHub Repository: https://github.com

🌐 Project Website: CoreCommerce

Thank you for your time, your feedback, and any GitHub stars if you like the project!
