The return of the Personal Blog

So I did it. I got my personal blog up and running since the beginning of the year. I wrote Welcome Back. and then discussed about Topics.

I did think about publishing a new article daily yet time is something precious that I would like to invest carefully. A friend nudged me about the idea of week notes which seems to be working. After reaching Week Note Ten - Loo Rolls Nation, slowly adding styling and coming up with several crazy single page websites that I will publish soon.

I'm going to say this to remind myself again and again, it is the first time in years that I'm quietly excited to get back into web designing and development again :-)

An overwhelmed front end developer in need of a brain reboot!

Recently, I have been utterly overwhelmed with many front end news, posts, top tips, “see what you can do with x and y”, learn more javascript, learn...

My brain is screaming “Stop!”. This is where I cannot complete any project I have been planning for over two years. My writing have suffered, my self esteem drops off a cliff, my confidence is nowhere where I would have like it to be.

A question for you all, how can you get back on track? Is it a matter of a small selection of people / blog to follow and go on from there? What are your thoughts?

Is there such a thing to learn about agile principles and what agile manifesto contains in drawing / comic form? Asking the dev.to crowd! :-)

Coding makes us happy

After reading Ben's 'Ah to be the justin bieber of open source', what strikes me is the following paragraph after someone's comment on Hacker News regarding "standard Rails mess".

It's true. We are a pretty standard Rails mess. We didn't get here because we write perfect code. We got here because we care a lot about the community. I happen to think that now that we are open source, we may eventually live up to our status as an important web app in the developer community. But that is not where we are today.

It is the same with every project out there including my own. I suffer from anxiety and the thoughts of putting my own repo on Github or contributing to other repos available in case I get slated for it.

Then Ben finished with a simple sentence at the end of it:

Happy coding ❤️

It is all too easy to forget why we enjoy coding in the first place. Have fun!
