      <description>&lt;p&gt;Phylogenomics-the estimation of species trees from multilocus data sets-is a common step in many biological studies. However, this estimation is challenged by the fact that genes can evolve under processes, including incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) and gene duplication and loss (GDL), that make their trees different from the species tree. In this article, we address the challenge of estimating the species tree under GDL. We show that species trees are identifiable under a standard stochastic model for GDL, and that the polynomial-time algorithm ASTRAL-multi, a recent development in the ASTRAL suite of methods, is statistically consistent under this GDL model. We also provide a simulation study evaluating ASTRAL-multi for species tree estimation under GDL.To deal with a large amount of redundant data in the indirect category database and inefficient redundancy elimination of the existing methods, we proposed an indirect category data transfer learning algorithm based on regularization discrimination. First of all, we denoised indirect category data, calculated the objective function of distance between the source domain and the target domain, and established the transfer relationship between indirect category data. Second, we adopted the regularization discriminant technique to divide the transfer network structure of indirect category data into five modules, analyzed the effects and advantages of different modules, and constructed the transfer network structure of indirect category data. Finally, the indirect category data transfer was realized by the design of the indirect category data transfer learning algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively eliminate redundancy of indirect category data, the amplitude of fluctuation of indirect category data is small, the transfer time and energy consumption of the algorithm are low, and the accuracy is as high as about 90%, which indicates that the proposed algorithm is far superior to the traditional method and has high application value.Background The objective of this study was to assess the safety and effectiveness of the first commercial configuration of a tubeless automated insulin delivery system, Omnipod® 5, in children (6-13.9 years) and adults (14-70 years) with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in an outpatient setting. Materials and Methods This was a single-arm, multicenter, prospective clinical study. Data were collected over a 14-day standard therapy (ST) phase followed by a 14-day hybrid closed-loop (HCL) phase, where participants (n = 36) spent 72 h at each of three prespecified glucose targets (130, 140, and 150 mg/dL, 9 days total) then 5 days with free choice of glucose targets (110-150 mg/dL) using the Omnipod 5. Remote safety monitoring alerts were enabled during the HCL phase. Primary endpoints were difference in time in range (TIR) (70-180 mg/dL) between ST and HCL phases and proportion of participants reporting serious device-related adverse events. Results Mean TIR was significantly higher among children in the free-choice period overall (64.9% ± 12.2%, P  less then  0.01) and when using a 110 mg/dL target (71.2% ± 10.2%, P  less then  0.01), a 130 mg/dL target (61.5% ± 7.7%, P  less then  0.01), and a 140 mg/dL target (64.8% ± 11.6%, P  less then  0.01), and among adults using a 130 mg/dL target (75.1% ± 11.6%, P  less then  0.05), compared to the ST phase (children 51.0% ± 13.3% and adults 65.6% ± 15.7%). Five types of ethanol/salts of aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) were investigated and then the extraction conditions were further optimized using single-factor experiments and response surface methodology (RSM) via Box-Behnken Design (BBD). The optimum process parameters were concluded as follows 20.60% (w/w) K2CO3, 27% (w/w) ethanol, solvent-to-material ratio of 45.171 (gg), 120-mesh particle size of fruitlets powder, extraction temperature of 50 °C, extraction time of 30 min, and ultrasonic power of 80 W. Under these conditions, the extraction yields of synephrine, naringin, and neohesperidin were up to 11.17 mg/g, 7.39 mg/g, and 89.27 mg/g, respectively. The yield of neohesperidin extracted by the optimal UA-ATPE was over eight times higher than that extracted by the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) using conventional solvents, and the total yield of target compounds was over twice higher while the impurity content in the extract was much lower. Therefore, UA-ATPE appeared to be a highly effective and promising approach for the extraction of synephrine, naringin, and neohesperidin from C. aurantium fruitlets.Circular RNA (circRNA) is a new non-coding RNA with a highly conserved and stable covalently closed loop structure, and it plays an important role in a variety of biological processes and the occurrence of diseases. Based on the sequencing results, circRNA_3079 had the most significant difference between the infected group and normal group, up to about 8 times. It has attracted our attention and was selected for further verification and analysis. Though the characteristics analysis of circRNA_3079 in chicken, we found circRNA_3079 is a stable, circular transcript, which mainly exists in the cytoplasm. And it is widely expressed in various tissues of chickens, and highly expressed in lung, spleen, lymph and bursa of fabricius.       <description>&lt;p&gt;BACKGROUND Alcohol use has strong associations with the pursuit of pleasure, yet trends in young people's drinking have been declining in Australia for more than 15 years. Therefore, it is important to examine how the increasing number of young people who drink lightly or abstain think about pleasure and alcohol, and how this might reflect changing practices around drinking for pleasure. METHODS Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 50 young people aged 16-19 from Melbourne who abstained from alcohol or drank within Australian guidelines for risky drinking. Participants reflected on how they socialised whilst drinking lightly or without drinking at all, and how they experienced pleasure in this context. These responses were analysed thematically. RESULTS Four key themes emerged; authenticity, intimacy, control, and vicarious pleasure. Some participants felt that by not drinking, they were enacting authentic or better versions of themselves, whilst developing a stronger sense of intimacy with their sober friends. Others described the displeasure of potentially losing control of their emotions and bodies in social situations and were able to instead experience enjoyment vicariously through their friends' drinking. CONCLUSION Drinking has long been regarded as a way to build a connection with others, relax and feel a sense of pleasure. However, it is important to recognise that avoiding drinking and drunkenness provides an alternative means by which some young people pursue feelings of pleasure and enjoyment. In a time of declining drinking rates, participants here drew on notions of authenticity, intimacy, self-control, and vicarious enjoyment to construct light or non-drinking as a pleasurable pursuit, and a positive part of selfhood. While promising, this approach needs further basic assessment to ensure proper uses. RESEARCH QUESTION Does following floor-projected foot placement visual cues of one's natural walking pattern induce gait mechanics changes immediately or after a practice period? METHODS Gait mechanics data from fifteen healthy individuals (7 female, 25.4 ± 5.0 years, 21.5 ± 1.68 kg/m2) was collected during normal walking without visual cues, and during two testing phases (immediate and after 45-60 min of practice) of walking with floor-projected visual cues depicting their normal spatial parameters. Magnitudes and variabilities of spatial gait parameters and sagittal plane lower limb kinematics and kinetics were compared between the three testing phases using repeated measures ANOVA and post-hoc paired t-tests. BACKGROUND Although mechanical barriers and modern surgical techniques have been developed to prevent postoperative adhesion formation, high incidence of adhesions still represents an important challenge in abdominal surgery. So far, there has been no available therapeutic drug in clinical practice. PURPOSE In this study, we explored the efficacy of sodium aescinate (AESS) treatment against postoperative peritoneal adhesions, the potential molecular mechanism was also investigated. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 6 groups for the study the blank, vehicle, positive control and three AESS administration groups (0.5, 1 and 2 mg/kg/d, intravenous administration for 7 days). Adhesions were induced by discretely ligating peritoneal sidewall. An IL-1β-induced HMrSV5 cell model was also performed to explore possible functional mechanism. RESULTS The results indicated that the incidence and severity of peritoneal adhesions were significantly lower in the AESS-treated nt as a potential therapeutic agent on peritoneal adhesions. BACKGROUND Dihydroquercetin (DHQ) is an antifibrotic agent. However, whether DHQ can prevent renal fibrosis remains unknown. PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the effects of DHQ on tubulointerstitial fibrosis and its underlying mechanisms in unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) mice in vivo and NRK-49F cells in vitro. METHODS In vivo, UUO mice received vehicle or DHQ treatment. In vitro, NRK-49F cells were pretreated with DHQ and exposed to transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1). Changes in fibroblast activation, collagen synthesis, oxidative stress, and related signaling pathways were assessed by immunohistochemical staining, Western blot analysis, real-time reverse transcription-PCR, and fluorescence microscopy. RESULTS UUO induced tubular atrophy, inflammation, fibroblast differentiation into myofibroblast, and collagen deposition, whereas DHQ ameliorated these effects. UUO also resulted in decreased levels of nuclear factor-erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), catalase, and heme oxygenase-1, but increased H2O2 and malondialdehyde levels. DHQ treatment corrected these changes. In vitro, the intracellular Nrf2 level of NRK-49F exposed to TGF-β1 decreased. However, DHQ rescued intracellular Nrf2 level and promoted nuclear translocation of Nrf2. DHQ scavenged TGF-β1-induced accumulation of reactive oxygen species, inhibited TGF-β1-induced Smad3 phosphorylation, and prevented TGF-β1-induced fibroblast activation and collagen synthesis in NRK-49F. Nrf2 knockdown could suppress the DHQ-mediated inhibitory effects on oxidative stress, Smad3 phosphorylation, fibroblast activation, and collagen deposition. PF-543 Furthermore, DHQ ameliorated established renal fibrosis in UUO mice. CONCLUSIONS DHQ posed remarkable preventive and therapeutic effects on UUO-induced renal fibrosis and suppressed fibroblast activation by reducing oxidative stress and Smad3 phosphorylation via Nrf2 signaling. This study provided a mechanistic basis for the clinical application of DHQ in renal fibrosis treatment. AIMS Diabetes mellitus is a risk factor for Parkinson's disease. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of type 1 diabetes on VMAT2 expression in the striatum using [18F]FP-(+)-DTBZ. MATERIALS AND METHODS A longitudinal study of type 1 diabetic rats was established by intraperitoneally injecting male Wistar rats with streptozotocin. Rats injected with saline were used as the control group. Glucose level, body weight, and [18F]FP-(+)-DTBZ uptake in the striatum and pancreas were evaluated at 0.5, 1, 4, 6 and 12 months after STZ or saline injection.       <description>&lt;p&gt;3 m) and deep (≥1.64 m) GWDs in freshwater habitats.Microbial metabolic efficiency (MME), a key physiological property that indicates the allocation of carbon (C) to microbial growth, is surely one potential pathway involved in the regulation of priming effect within soil systems. However, the function and mechanism concerning the regulation of the rhizosphere priming effects (RPE) by MME in plant-soil systems remain unclear. In this study, we performed a pot experiment that included two soil types (paddy soil and lou soil), two plant species (sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] and maize [Zea mays L.]) and three stages of growth (big trumpet, blooming and mature stage) to investigate the MME mechanism of RPE. Both positive (up to 76% at the big trumpet stage) and negative (down to -11% at the mature stage) RPE were observed. A shift in related enzyme activities and microbial biomass indicated that the 'microbial activation' and 'microbial nitrogen (N) mining' hypotheses functioned together at first. The 'preferential substrate utilization' hypothesis then functioned at the latter two stages. After that, according to a correlation analysis method, the MME was introduced to regulate the RPE the availability of soil C and N and the microbial biomass jointly shaped the microbial C N imbalance (MICN), and the microbes then regulated their MME based on the MICN, thus, regulating the RPE. Specifically, the lower MME induced by a higher MICN was responsible for a greater RPE at the big trumpet stage across all the planted treatments, while a higher MME induced by a lower MICN was responsible for the lower or negative RPE at the blooming and mature stages. Overall, these findings demonstrate that the MME shaped by MICN functions as a mediator to regulate the RPE in planted soil.Current studies tend to combine different advanced treatment technologies to reduce costs and increase efficiency. The objective of this work was to assess the combination of ozonation and UV/H2O2 with activated carbon adsorption for the removal of effluent quality parameters and micropollutants from secondary effluent samples. The experiments were carried out using the following configurations O3 + GAC + O3 (1); O3 + GAC + UV/H2O2 (2); UV/H2O2 + GAC + O3 (3); UV/H2O2 + GAC + UV/H2O2 (4). Configurations 1, 3 and 4 were the most efficient for organic matter removal, while configuration 1 had the lowest cost on laboratory scale. An additional ultra-filtration membrane unit (UF) was tested at the end of configuration 1, which was optimized in terms of ozone doses for the removal of three organophosphate micropollutants in ultrapure water (TNBP, TCIPP and TPHP at 10 μgL-1). The best cost-effective configuration of this treatment train was the one using 1 mg L-1 of ozone before and after GAC, which achieved around 100% of micropollutants abatement. The role of each treatment to the final micropollutant removal was also discussed, being the first ozone treatment responsible for about 15% removal of the mixture of contaminants, while GAC was responsible for an additional 80% removal. The complete treatment train reached almost 100% of contaminants removal (under detection limit of the method), as well as added security to the system. The achieved results were also compared to international reuse legislations, proving that the combination of O3 and GAC was an interesting option to achieve enough quality for some reuse purposes.The ubiquitous presence of microplastics in the aquatic environment has raised concern about their potential impacts on and risks to the biota. While the presence of microplastics in a marine environment has been well studied, the impact of microplastic contamination in freshwater bodies is understudied. In the present study, baseline data about contamination with microplastics in Lake Guaíba in southern Brazil are presented. The abundance, distribution, and composition of microplastics in the surface of this freshwater body were investigated, and these parameters were correlated with population density, land occupation, wind, and geohydrologic processes. The samples were collected with a manta net (60 μm mesh size). learn more Microplastics were found in all the samples, with an average of 11.9 ± 0.6 to 61.2 ± 6.1 items m-3, which indicates the widespread contamination of the lake with plastic particles. Here, we examined the relative importance of local environmental gradients and three physical distance matrices (i.e., overland, watercourse and cost distances) on beta diversity and its two components for a macroinvertebrate metacommunity in a stream network. To provide additional insights into community assembly, we also analysed variation in two deconstructed sub-communities based on dispersal ability (i.e., weak and strong dispersers). Both environmental filters and physical distances (dispersal limitation) drove patterns of overall beta diversity, with the former generally prevailing over the latter. &lt;p&gt;This systematic review and meta-analysis compares the effectiveness of TP anticoagulation services to face-to-face (FTF) anticoagulation services in the ambulatory care setting. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A literature search for studies assessing the effectiveness of TP services was conducted using PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central databases, from inception through November 18, 2020. Studies that compared TP with FTF anticoagulation services in the ambulatory care setting were included. Outcomes of interest included thromboembolic events, major bleeding, minor bleeding, any bleeding, warfarin international normalized ratio (INR) time in therapeutic range (TTR), frequency of extreme INR, anticoagulation-related emergency department visits, anticoagulation-related hospitalization, any hospitalization, and mortality. Relative risk (RR) and weighted mean difference were calculated using the DerSimonian and Laird random-effects model. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Overall, 11 studies involving 8395 patients were included in the systematic review, and 9 studies were included in the pooled meta-analysis. Compared with FTF service, TP was associated with a lower risk of any bleeding and any hospitalization, with RRs of 0.65 (95% CI = 0.47 to 0.90; &lt;br&gt;
 = 0.01) and 0.59 (95% CI = 0.39 to 0.87; &lt;br&gt;

 Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic used for prophylaxis and treatment of acute bleeding. Although fixed dosing is often used in practice, weight-based dosing is sometimes used in the operating room (OR). The efficacy and safety of fixed-dose TXA is not well established in patients with above average weight or body mass index. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sacubitril/valsartan dose on heart failure (HF) hospitalization and mortality in patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Proteinuria can cause or exacerbate hypothyroidism, possibly due to urinary loss of protein-bound thyroid hormone. However, the precise relationship between proteinuria and hypothyroidism remains unclear. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This work aimed to determine the prevalence of hypothyroidism in patients with proteinuria and the relationship between hypothyroidism and degree of proteinuria. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A retrospective cohort study was conducted from December 1979 to March 2015. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This study was conducted at a large academic hospital. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;All paired samples of urine protein and serum thyrotropin (TSH), measured within 24 hours, were obtained from adults (age &amp;gt; 18 years) with at least one instance of urine protein greater than 0.2 g/day or mg/mg creatinine. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Samples were stratified by urine protein tertile. Mean TSH and risk of TSH elevation were compared among tertiles using analysis of covariance and generalized estimating equations controlled for age, sex, samples per patient, and levothyroxine treatment. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of 2676 samples were identified from 2136 patients. Mean ± SE TSH (mIU/L) was increased in the highest tertile of urine protein (&amp;gt; 1.75g/day) compared to the lower 2 tertiles (2.09 ± 0.07 vs 1.59 ± 0.07, 1.59 ± 0.06, P &amp;lt; .001). The highest tertile had a greater prevalence of TSH greater than 5 mIU/L (17.2% vs 10.5%, 11.9%, P &amp;lt; .001) but a similar risk of TSH greater than 5 mIU/L (odds ratio [OR] 1.44; 95% CI, 0.67-3.09, P = .35). The highest tertile also had a higher prevalence (6.2% vs 3.4%, 2.6%, P = .003) and risk (OR 1.72; 95% CI, 1.05-2.84, P = .008) of TSH greater than 10 mIU/L. Similar results were observed when comparing samples with nephrotic-range proteinuria (&amp;gt; 3.5g/day) to those with lesser proteinuria. &lt;/p&gt;

The synthesized fluid showed a strong magnetorheological response with increasing shear stress values as the magnetic field intensity increases. Thus, we have measured a superior performance up to 616.7 kA m-1, with a yield stress value of 2729 Pa, and good reversibility after demagnetization process.
